I have a Biktrix Ultra mid-drive and found the need to give my kids a ride once in a while. It was difficult finding resources for ebike seats and pegs so here I purchased via Amazon a faux leather pillion pad (similar to a Harley fender passenger seat) and universal motorcycle folding round pegs, then fabricated mount brackets. The difficult part is finding a mounting spot for the brackets (future ebikes will probably have mounting tabs for pegs). I decided to use the threaded rack and fender bosses as "holding" points while the bulk of the rider downward weight would be placed on the lower frame. I used 2 - 7" pieces of 1/2" angle iron and a) cut a portion of the left angle away, b) cut and bent to an angle the pieces to match the frame bend, and c) welded 4 - 10mm peg bolts as bosses, d) welded and ground the mounts, and e) drilled holes to match the frame bosses. I also used a longer hardened 5mm screws to hold down the mounting brackets. In addition, I attached rubber insulators on the underside of the mounting bracket
I took into consideration the weight limits for the bike, motor and drive train components. My intended use is not too extreme hills, or actions which overtask the motor, controller or drivetrain. My requirements also included the ability to comfortably carry a 70lb passenger including a seat and pegs and the passenger feet cannot interfere with the pedal functions. Safety and mechanical functions were tantamount - feet or components cannot become entangled or interfere with the wheel, spokes, chain or derailleur and braking must function well. The hardware also must be removeable and not damage any frame or paint components.
The results are decent. I tested on a 90lb person and can give my kids rides to the store, pool, movies, etc.., going up/down light hills, flats. If I had to do it again i would add a clamp to the front to prevent too much downward pressure on the peg from potentially bending the mounts outward and stabilizing the foot peg more. But so far i have not needed to do that. I am highly cognizant of the motor, controller and drive train capabilities and don't intend on using this function except from time to time. In the future I envision we'll have more passenger features.
