Original Aventure won't power on unless plugged in

I have an original Aventure. I haven't ridden it in about 6 months, but wanted to ride it so I plugged it in and powered it up. It says it's still charged to 100%, but if I unplug from the battery it powers down. If I don't have the battery plugged in the bike will not power up. I tired leaving it plugged in over night, and while the power brick is green, the bike will not power up on it's own. Has anyone seen this before? Anyone know how to fix this? I'm a bit desperate because I want to get back on my Aventure!

Thanks for your help!

Try a hard reset. Shut the bike off and hold the power button for 15 seconds, then let go. Shut it off after the display cycles, and try charging again.

Hopefully, stompandgo's trick will work on the Aventon and it will take a charge,

What is probably happening is that the battery self discharged over those six months and now is too low for the charger to recharge it, When you plug it in with battery on bike, the charger is what turns the bike on, but the battery is not doing anything, Its internal circuit is designed to prevent recharge if cells are too low.

After five years with little use in the past six months, you might expect the Aventure battery to do this. Maybe a battery tech can look at it, determine if it's safe to recharge, and then do it. Not something a layman should try.
