So this is a $250 upgrade that can be ordered with any Ebike WW sells, we have yet to see it.
I would like to see it, just how much better is it than the standard DCP-18 that comes stock with the Ultra?

Not yet. Getting the prototypes in a couple of weeks.

A little confusing - we will remove the $250 firmware display upgrade option. We are working on a standalone display.

Ok... here are some very initial pics - these are untouched / unprocessed. Ive tried to take the pics at the same location and at the same angles at the same spot for a reasonable comparison.

Here are the highlights - we will work on improving this as well.

1. New display is 4 inch, versus 2.3inch DPC 18. Build quality is awesome. Like really awesome.
2. Side angle visibility is significantly better
3. Visibility with polarized lenses is slightly better. I'd say that visibility is higher because the display size is larger, and the contrast is slightly better. This needs iterating.
4. The display is actually glass! Its great to hold in your hands (while installing).
5. Adds 0.5 lb extra to the weight though - fundamentally a larger unit.
6. Display can show GPS directions (from your phone GPS) - still testing that.

Pushkar, will this be the stock display on the Helios? Also, can riders customize what they see on the screen-something like what can be done with Bosch's new Nyon display?

Yes, stock on Helios.You know it! We may ship with DPC -18 initially though.... Testing and production of the new display may take longer. We will send it out once we have the new display.targeting end of Q1 / early Q2 tbh to have reasonable quantities to ship.

I saw this on Nyon.

Basically its just the different widgets you can see right ? Might be easier for us to provide pre-built variations of the screen (we can do 2 - 3 different variations at the moment). Will that work?

I am also working to get better backgrounds - blue / dark green don't work all that well in the light. So will be doing more testing to see what color we can go with to provide a higher contrast setting.

Being able to chose the widgets for a specific screen would be optimal, but a set screen with a selection of widgets would work too.

The Bafang Mini 500C is my favorite display. Hopefully I’ll be able to use it on the Hydra.

It it is stock 500C, it should work. The Eggrider wont work.

The EggRider sucks. I’ve busted three of the little clamps that mount it and the display washes out in bright sunligh.

Right now we are shipping with the DPC-18.

We will provide this new display once it is available - for a nominal $7 shipping charge. The older DPC-18 has to be returned.

This might take till late Q1 / early Q2 before we have enough production but that is the timeline.
