New Bosch Gen 4 motor soft wear update

Question on the eMTB mode. My dealer did not want to install the eMTYB mode on my SuperDelight Touring with gen4 CX motor as it would ruin the chain to fast or something like that. Is that true?
That is patently ridiculous. Even if it were true, the chain is a wear part that requires periodic cleaning, lubrication and yes, replacement. Shifting wears the chain faster than not shifting. Does he suggest you replace your current multi-gear drive train with a single speed to make the chain last longer? Riding the bike would "ruin the chain" faster that not riding it. Would he suggest you not ride your bike to preserve the precious chain? Absurd.

Thank you and @Dallant for your feedback. I though it was BS.
I'll call them and make an appointment to install the new mode(s).

FYI, EMTB was created to enable mountain bike riders, who ride in rapidly changing conditions, to not have to pay attention to shifting assist levels while also paying attention to correct gear selection. I had it changed over to EMTB and then back to Sport. I prefer the four defined assistance ranges rather than having one that spanned several ranges. I would rather have greater control over my discharge of electrons and find I used less battery that way. Plus I ride mostly roads or gentler trails.

FWIW, my experience has been the same battery use and less shifting and less changing of assist modes. I mostly ride roads and gentler trails also.

I’ve used both modes and came to the conclusion that Sport is best for sealed roads (it helps on long consistent gradient climbs better), and eMTB for off road. I rode a bike park in Tasmania recently and didn’t change gear on most trails at all using eMTB.

I have EMTB mode on my Delite and Sport on my Roadster and both would seem to be fit for purpose as Bosch intended. Alaskan and Jays comments are on the mark but now having the custom modes available with the latest Nyon upgrade means that the Delite can have a custom mode defined that can match the Sport option or if you are watching electrons have even more frugal options than standard. For those that suggest you cannot get a good workout on an ebike you can give them a super frugal mode but they might well revert to eco or tour after a while. :) 🚲 :)
