Yes, the Shinko tires are about twice as heavy as the stock ebike tires.Oh wow!
They are also thicker, much more heavy duty, and pretty much negate the use of/carrying-on-the-ride these following items: a flat repair patch kit.. multiple tire levers.. portable air pump (or co2 inflation cartridges).. an extra inner tube.. the installation of aftermarket TANNUS, MrTuffy, etc. inserts/protectors. And don't forget about that wrench which is needed to remove/install the wheels axle nuts. It all adds up. Plus, when you total up the overall weight of all the items that I have just mentioned, the "weight increase" overall, is nil.
I haven't needed to carry/use any of the aforementioned items on my almost daily 50 mile ebike rides since Sept of 2018. I ride to ride-- not to repair/do trailside maintenance.
In the case of a heavy duty hauler like the Xpedition ebike, the SHINKO motorcycle tires/tubes (with SLIME) are by far the best way to go.
Also, if you have a local LECTRIC ebike dealer: at the time of sale/purchase ask to have the stock/original tires/tubes swapped out for the SHINKO tire set-up (items which you will purchase separately). The dealer can then keep/resell the stock items. Everybody wins. Life is good.
