My new Mango Super Bird.

Hello from Portland Oregon. I joined a while back to get more aquainted with ebikes.

I bought my bike last week and have already commuted twice on it.

Loving it so far. It is a Mango Super Bird. I like the upright riding position. Also, there is no drag when I ride with the motor off.

It is the only ebikes I've tried, but it feels quite capable, at least to me.

Hi @Longhaulcruiser

I have been looking at the Mango super bird as well, and wonder if you can share your experience with it so far?
Have you made any modification?
It looks like there is no easy way to also add a rear bike rack because it does not have rear rack braze.
Thanks

I've ridden my Mango Super bird for five months and put about 1000 miles on it. It continues to be a blast to ride.

Nothing has gone wrong with it and recently I have helped a friend get one which I assembled for her. She bought on my recommendation and is quite happy.

I think a read rack can be used because there are some tabs on both the dropouts and seat stays. They are concealed for whatever reason, so you probably can't tell from photos. It seems like the bracket will need to be bent somewhat.

I'm about ready to get a rear rack myself as winter riding with a backpack is going to be a no go. Too much weight. I will get it on Saturday. I still recommend the bike highly.

I only use the power on the hills when I ride, so the battery goes above 50 miles. Otherwise I'd charge after 25 miles.

great info thank you.
it does not say on the website and I cannot see from the images, but does the brakes have motor inhibitors built in?

I will let Longhaulcruiser correct me if I'm wrong, but brake switches are pretty much standard on every controller. I would be surprised if not available. Safety. Probably the only ebikes that don't have them are home builts where the installer omitted them.

As for racks, I see a screw hole for a rack above the one for the fender strut in the bikedirect picture. If not, you can also buy racks that clamp onto the upper chainstay bracket. About 18 bucks on ebay. Rubber pad under the clamp. Don't screw it too tight.

Huh, they have blemished models for $799.

Every description I've found for the Super Bird lists the brake levers as Tektro EL350 with Adjustable Sensor Control Designed for E-bikes and if you zoom in on Longhaulcruiser's photo you can see the sensor cable.
As for a rear rack it has the bottom boss and you could connect the front stays to the seat post clamp or the 2 screws on the cross member on the seat stays.

thank you everyone,
Due to 6 knee operations I am looking for a decent inexpensive bike that has flat foot technology like Electra bikes (too expensive) and I think the Mango Super bird with LowTide+UFit Design and cost checks those boxes.

Bikesdirect finally received new stock for the Mango Superbird, and now for the same price they upgraded some components:
- New Electric Motor (not sure what this was before so cannot comment)
- Hydraulic Disc Brakes
- Electric Throttle Control

It arrived in less than a week and well packed.
I took about 30 minutes to put the bike together, and the 2nd time around went much faster (purchased the step-through for my wife as well)

So far very happy and bike rides and looks great.
The only thing i would probably change soon are the tires.

I have an older Superbird that doesn't have a throttle, but I would like to add one. Do you have any information on the controller? Is there any chance you could open the controller and show a picture of the connections? It takes a phillips screwdriver and is easy to do. I pulled the battery and then removed 6 screws I think. Here is the pictures of my controller that doesn't have a throttle:

I have same setup my thumb controller quit working and no one has a clue how to fix or replace , have you found any help with yours ?
