Motiv Sleek for retired 62 yr Female, 5'7" recreational use

The regular street bike shocks are a joke for mountain biking, but they're excellent for smoothing out the ride.

I think the people with something to sell should have that in a signature below their opinions (although it does at least say "EBS" by the name), if everyone picks up on that!

I challenge anyone reading this: go and, back-to-back, ride a bike with a low cost suspension fork and then ride a bike with a solid fork and tell me you don't notice a significant difference in feel.

Also I can quote plenty of Court's reviews where a low-cost shock is under the pros and a solid fork is considered a deficiency. Making a bike with a solid fork is mostly a cost saving measure, something Motiv specializes in (cutting costs).

I'm not sure why you think suspension forks have no value unless they're high end, but I respectfully disagree, and reviews on this site support that position!

Either way, shocks are a waste of time unless you are offroading. The might make a ride smoother but they rob you of energy and efficiency. But if you truly are a "Cadillac" person then all power to you.

Older actually, not really Cadillac . I'm not one of those carbon road bike fanatics ... And this is the ebike forum! A little bit of efficiency that's lost I will take for the comfort!

It is not about time, it's about comfort and a little bit of control. I believe you will find most of the electric bike reviews on here allude to that in some fashion.

Forks with shocks are valuable on road bikes, city bikes, hybrid bikes ... particularly when those are electric bikes.

I prefer to swim in a heated pool also, but those who are in the Polar Bear Club have a right to their opinion!!

It is my opinion only and I stand by it. I don't need to read additional reviews onto know that I do not like suspension on my bikes. It's not for lack of trying... :) it is not for me.

Seems like you found a bike you like... The Motiv Sleek does come in a 48v version.. Just buy the one with the largest battery available.

This eBike is throttle only.. Pedal assist bikes are a lot more fun and give you a lot more range... To each his/her own!

And whatever you end up with, ask the bike store if you can try the bike on some nearby hills before you buy.

Cameron at Motiv will put a pedalec sensor on this bike if you ask for it. It will have to cost more though.

Add-ons always cost more than if they were included in the first place. Will he also put shocks on it lol?

Motiv Sleek/Spark is fine if you want a simple, stripped-down cruiser.

The Motiv Shadow has a non-adjustable shock, that actually works. I also installed a Thudbuster. Yeah, that makes for a vertically oscillating, but cushioned bouncy ride. That diverts energy. However my hands, butt, and back stay happier during long rides. If you are a young buck, you don't need that stuff.... yet!

so Calvin - you have now had Motiv Shadow for how long? What is your long term report on this bicycle?

I have had this bike for about 13 months, and have driven it 1034 miles. I will post a rather long review on this bike on this forum and ES by tomorrow.
