Mission Control App will not connect

Hoping to get some assistance. I’ve used the search function with no luck.

I just picked up my Turbo Vado 4.0. I’ve installed the app on my IPhone XS which should be ok. The app finds my bike and I entered the PIN number hopefully correctly. The app shows “connecting” but times out and keeps trying to connect with no success.

I deleted the App and reinstalled it with no improvement. Hoping that someone can offer advice on how to make the Mission Control app work.

Thanks

Mike

As I recall my LBS linked my phone's bluetooth service to the new Vado when I picked it up. I had preloaded the Mission Control app. The bike tech then successfully connected the app to the bike. Seemed pretty seamless.

Things were less simple at home. I would sometimes get the same symptoms you describe. As it turns out my Android phone is apparently sensitive to the order that the bike, the app and the phone's bluetooth service are activated. What works for me is;

1. Power up bike, wait for display.

2. Turn on phone's bluetooth service.

3. Open the Mission Control app.

Connects everytime with this sequence, not so much with any other sequence. I do need to be within ~10 feet of the bIke to connect.

Hopefully some of this is transferrable to your iPhone. Can't say for sure.

All this Bluetooth stuff is one big frustration. I've got the older BLOKS display and the unofficial Specialized "Turbo Vado/Como Tune" Android app. The app connects to the bike or not, depending on its sense of humour at given day and time... The steps as described by Sierratim work the best also with the older display and the app.

It looks the electrical gremlins are present in the TCD-W display and the Mission Control App as well. Honestly, the only BT device I own that works flawlessly is my car radio...

I have the iphone X and use it on the MC app. No problems. Every once in a while right after it is turned on it will show motor error and I turn the bike off and on and all is good. Never a problem otherwise. Vado 5.0 btw.

I have Android LG 7 ThinQ. No problems here connecting and staying connected. I've had Zero issues with TCD-w display since upgrading from BLOK. I first power on the bike, turn on BT and then launch the app. Flawless connection. Same with BLevo using this process.

I’ve continued to try to connect with no success. I’ve even tried my IPad. The Bluetooth shows connected to the bike but the App still will not connect. With the stores on lockdown I’ll probably have them look at it when they reopen. Thanks for everyone’s help so far.

I'm using Android 10 on a Pixel 3a and have had no problems so far. BT on my phone is on all the time, so I just power on the bike, wait for a few seconds, and open the app. I do notice that if I then go straight into Setup that MC sometimes doesn't fetch the settings and gives an error message, but if I go back to the home page and try it again it works.

Android 10. That might be issue with BLevo. Android 9.0 here. The app might not be designed for the latest OS yet.

Android o/s upgrades don't often break the internals of apps, but it's quite possible that there were some Bluletooth-related changes that could have an effect. As I mentioned above, Mission Control also seems to have some issues for me.

I have a new Turbo Vado 4.0 and using my Pixel 2XL with Android 10 and I can not get the Mission Control all to connect. I tried as Sierratim suggested without any luck. Any ideas? Will try to contact my LBS.

As I wrote earlier, BT is on all the time on my Pixel 3a and it connected the first time with no issues and continues to reconnect. Did you go to your BT screen and take a look at the list of Previously Connected Devices? If you see your bike in the list, click on the little gear icon and select Forget. Then turn your bike on, run Mission Control, and see if it gets it this time.

rochrunner. Normally my BT is on all the time too and I have tried just turning on the bike and starting up the app with my BT on without any luck. Checked my BT screen and I am not seeing my bike in the list. I know my BT works as it connect to my car and assorted other BT speakers I have.

Usually apps have to be upgraded to support recent OS upgrades. Android 10 is relatively new. LG G7 thinQ is scheduled for this upgrade sometime this year. I'm thinking of not upgrading until issues with the new OS are fixed. I have absolutely no issues with MC or BLEvo with my current OS Android 9.

I just checked reviews. Others complaining it worked well until they upgraded to different phone. So, I'm thinking the app needs to be upgraded. Probably similar with BLEvo. The ratings, reviews, MC are 2.7 out 5. That is a strong indicator that many are unhappy with its functionality.

Here is review of Android 10 upgraded from Android 9. Says it worked fine until he did the update. That's enough for me to hold off on updating.

Thanks for the information Kam1936. Unfortunately my phone updated to 10 a while back. I have open a case with Specialized so we will see what they say.
That seems to be the consensus. The developers need to make it user friendly to Android 10 users. I'm not upgrading to 10 until I get feedback from others that it works properly. 👍

Pixel 3 users have issues with MC. You're not alone. I'm pretty sure the culprit is Android 10.
