Man on scooter hits pedestrian, then gets hit by car himself

I've seen cars over-react to police lights being turned on so this could have been unrelated to the scooter rider being reckless or the previous impact with the pedestrian. If these scooters are pushed off the sidewalks and into traffic we'll probably be reading about many more impacts with cars.

I still think these small wheeled scooters are a horrible idea overall. They look much safer than a bike but the small wheels much more easily get caught in cracks and surface irregularities sending people flying to the ground with many of them not wearing helmets because the scooter looked so safe.

In the long run they'll just help drive more ebike sales because the world does need viable and effective human-scale transportation.

@Ken M - Agree... e-Bikes as a larger, more stable, more visible platforms, just seem to make a lot more sense than scooters or hoverboards... as "viable and effective human-scale transportation."
