Hey everyone, Any thoughts about Luck? Why does an unlucky person step on a five dollar bill and the next lucky person spot it and pick it up? Here are some clovers I spotted today that others walked on or walked past just off a busy sidewalk. Is your own "luck" fate or do you help shape it? What about luck with eBikes and taking risks?

It is not the thing like a four leaf clover that is 'lucky' it is the observational skill required, that can be then be applied to real opportunities and spotting real threats so, that you don't step on a snake and you do find a gold ring. It is funny that money started coming my way after finding a five leaf clover. But it is not the clover that did it, it was the mindset. The same mindset that made me receptive to finding the five leaf clover. You are not going to find a gold ring walking around looking down at your phone. That will make you more likely to fall down a manhole or walk into an oncoming bus.

The most ridiculous thing is that the majority of those folks went right back to their phones 🤬!

@PatriciaK, I think that you are the only one who watched it. I can't believe the person who went down the manhole! Guys and gals, you should see that video. Stress also makes people distracted from being present. So many are stressed out. No wonder they are 'down on their luck.'
A super smart person named Taleb wrote about something called the Ludic Fallacy. It is when people take the simplified world of luck and statistics from the world of games and apply it to the real world. Games are so simple that you cannot change the "luck factor" because in them that is random unless there is a cheat. But in the real world, by changing your outlook, lucky opportunities abound. And you can do simple things like fire protection, not texting while driving, or getting exercise that will significantly change your odds of not being 'un-lucky.'

One of my exes had a saying, "Whenever somebody says I'm lucky, I say, 'Funny, the harder I work, the luckier I get!'"
i would add "the harder one studies" the "luckier" it gets.

- but really , "luck" it is just a term for jealous people to describe someone else's particular event; that "luck" comes with responsability, arrived b/c one was wise, hardworking, etc...

- even with lottery , say if someone gets a huge jackpot, maybe they had been buying same numbers for thousands of times and finally the stars have alligned. It was hard work not luck !

there is absolutly no random, that's another invented word or terminology to distract from what are perfectly arranged actions ( from huge activities/down to the molecular/atomic level of interactions).
I would say that in hindsight there is no random. The only way we can be in this particular parallel universe now is by tracing back the path to here. In hindsight we can not see the splits that went in other directions along the way, making our reality seem inevitable. And perhaps the future too. I do not believe that.

Except, there are millions and millions and millions of people who work very hard, every day, yet never get "lucky". Must be something else going on ... 🤔

There is such a thing as "accident of- birth, Geology, etc( such as we are very close to coal-producing areas, due to an"accident of geology we don't have any{ wasn't luck ,just an accident")
Remeber this sometimers "Brown nosers" sometimes get some crumbs from the 'Masters table" something I could never really stomach. A lot of times there are People who will just take advantage of every little chance( even if it hurts someone else) I just cannot join that club,I have tried for years to be "moral" its hard!

I create my own "luck", its a strange thing I have a Cousin who believes in Luck( He said) but was criticizing myself and His Brother in law for being"superstitious"( we believe in God)

Severe stress with a fatalistic perspective combined with hierarchy will do that. This is the plight of millions. I am going to ride a bike.
