looking for softer ride

i have a Voltbike Yukon & looking for a softer ride
i am looking at the Suntour seat post & Cloud 9 Gel seat
the current seat post is 30.4mm, but the Suntour comes in 27.2 & 30.9
do i need shims for the 27.2? or will the 30.9 fit snuggly?
most of the other seat posts i have looked at i.e. Kinekt, Cane Creek, Redshift all seem to be 27.2mm only

A 30.9 mm post would not go in at all. Whichever post you choose will require an appropriate shim.

Pretty much. I suppose it could be argued that a longer one is better, but I have never known one to not work regardless of the length.
