Liv Amiti E+2 (2018) vs Amiti E+4?

I am looking to purchase a x-small versatile e-bike that can handle steep hills, gravel, and trails. Liv seems to be the only brand available in the US with an x-small frame. I found a Liv E+2 (dark silver/teal which I believe is the 2018 version not 2019). Since it's an older version, it's $600 cheaper. Are there any major differences between this bike and then new E+4? Are there any upgrades or fixes that would make the 2020 worth $600 more? Any feedback is appreciated!

Hi and welcome to the forum. Found your thread...

Here's what I posted on PM, in case there are others interested, or additional comments.

"What is your dealer doing with a 2018 model? Has it been a demo? Or a used bike? How long have they had it?
The reason I ask is because the battery pack is the most expensive component and they don't do well just sitting around in storage. Worst if they've been left in a discharged state for any length of time. Or is it a brand new bike in the crate? It makes a difference. If it's the latter, probly a good deal, but I would be wanting to get it for about $1500 to $1800 all in. It is now a two year old model.

We got a 2019 model - our dealer ordered it in February, just before the pandemic lockdown - they still had a few at the distribution center of GIANT. It's been perfect. I think we paid about $1900 for it, plus sales tax. I can't remember if it's a M or L. Looks like they are all now sold out.

As far as differences, not much. I think the 2018 has the lcd display, but otherwise they're virtually identical.

It is an excellent bike, I think one of the best. Especially for the price point. The Yamaha assist system is outstanding, very reliable, and trouble-free. They have very good range with the 400w pack, and are easy to ride. The 700c wheels make for very smooth and stable riding. Wife absolutely loves hers. "

Thank you so much for your response! That definitely gives me some questions to ask.

The dealer told me it is a 2019 but when I looked online there are two versions of the E+2. One version released in 2018 and another one in 2019. I am assuming it is the 2018 version based on what they said was the color (DARK silver/teal). I didn't know why there would be 2 versions of the E+2 and if the changes were based on problems. I have purchased the bike sight unseen over the phone as it is 2 hours away and the stock of x-small bikes is slim. They said I could return it if I decided against it. My other option, is 3 hrs away in a different direction, and it's the 2020 version. As long as it hasn't been sitting for two years, it seems like it is a decent deal... not as good as the one you got.

Perhaps the dealer has explained the colors incorrectly. The 2019 is definitely bright silver, the 2018 model is dark silver.
Based on availability for your size I would agree you've made a smart choice, whichever it is. As long as it's a new bike in the crate I have confidence the battery pack will be fine.
You can test ride it and make sure you like it before taking delivery. Ebikes have been selling out all over the country.

BTW, if it has the 'evo' display - an LCD dashboard, then it's for sure a 2018. For 2019 they went to the 'RideOne' control pad.

2019 RideOne Control - no display. However, for 2019 the bluetooth interface was introduced that connects with a smartphone app. Lots of complaints about getting it to work reliably, but we haven't had any problems - 3 different bikes on two iPhones. It's a nice interface for trip data, battery charge level, even a mapping and nav section.

Congrats on your new ebike! Many great miles to you.
I'm in agreement how difficult it is to find small frames, even more so extra small ones.
Please post how you like you new Liv.
