Hello fellow riders of the electric rage.
The weather in the upstate New York this time of the year pretty much excludes transportation via bike without exposure to excessive risks. At nearly 61 years old, my tolerance and abilities are changing with regard to cycling in extremes. It makes me jealous though, whenever I see people braving their passage, commuting via bicycle in spite of the adverse elements. Until Spring, I will only be commuting on my non-E-bikes, and only when the weather is above 30 degrees. Yeah, I know Wuss!
To be vain, I think it is the example I've set in past years that must be inspiring the influx of dedicated bike commuting that is becoming more prevalent around here. Well whatever, this year getting an E-Bike added an exciting dimension to my bike commutes. Commuting with my EG Zurich 350ix is a blast. I upgraded the seat to a Brooks B17 and the pedals to Power Grips, as the year went on. With the Zurich, I managed 107 round trip commutes, covering some 1,925miles, in 109:48 hours(an average of 17.64 mph). That turns out to be about 4 mph faster than my commutes with non-E-bikes. The bike has held up well, although some routine maintenance is necessary to prepare for another biking season. I will be upgrading the tires to Specialized Infinity Armadillo
