LCD display

I recently obtained a Pexmor ebike conversion kit. It is 48 volt 1000 watt. I does not have the LCD screen. I am wondering if there is some way to program the bike without the screen and the buttons on the screen. I want the bike for just puttering around the neighborhood. I am 85 years old and I am beyond the need for speed and thrills. The controller does not have the plug for the LCD screen but I am wondering if it is possible to add the screen from the existing wires. The screen must be controlled by the hall sensors in the throttle and the pedal assist and the existing power connectors. I have no way of determining which controller would work on this bike short of trying to contact Pexmor which I have tried without success. What I really need is a wiring diagram for the LCD screen. I can buy a screen from Amazon for about $30. I am relatively competent on wiring and soldering.

Thanks: Gordon

There is no way to program the bike without a display. The display communicates with the controller and tells it what to do. Without a screen, you are left to whatever limits(non-limits) are pre-programmed into the firmware of the controller. The throttle communicates with the controller. The display “advises” how the controller reacts to the throttle.

All the Pexmor kits that I see on Amazon include a display. Since yours doesn’t have a display plug, I’m guessing it’s meant as a minimal kit. Do you have a link for the kit?

You can either, find a KT controller AND display, as a kit (you can find it cheaper on aliexpress, but delivery will be a few weeks). You’d have to be mindful of the components (throttle, PAS, brake, and motor) connections to find a match. Looks like they are JST connections. If you are buying a new controller and display, try to find one similar to the max amp rating of the existing one. Since that rating should be paired with the battery rating. If you draw too muc

OR, return the kit and get one that comes with a display.

I got the kit from someone who was selling Amazon Pallet Returns so I cannot go back to Amazon. I only paid $60 for the new kit. Apparently they came out with an upgraded kit afterwards. The additional modifications like brake and cables would have been required in any case. I think that the $30 screen from Amazon can be made to work. I may just buy it and try it. I need a wiring diagram to do it and I think that the Amazon screen has a wiring diagram. I can also just use it as is. Time is not a big factor at my age.

Thanks

The controller works and runs the bike, but it has no connector for a display? Does it have a speed button where you can pick 1 -3 assist levels? How does itturn on? Is there a start control or key switch?

I would just leave it alone. There's no assurance that you have a cost reduced controller where they left off the display, In addition, unless you get a Pexmor display, there's no guarantee that a similar looking display will work. From the picture, it looks like a common S900 and they put different firmware in them for different manufacturers.

You can buy a $10 bike computer to show your speed, Add a voltmeter to show your battery voltage if you like to tinker, but most of them are hard to see in the sun.
