A few tips is to loosen up the 2 screws at the base of the mount attached to the handlebars. If they are too tight this will creat an uneven surface for the contacts to mate tightly. If that doesn’t help you need to check out the pins at the base of the display to ensure each of the pins moves in and out freely.

UPDATE: There is now a GEN 4 display available which is now an “all in one” unit that corrects any contact issues. While you loose the the ability to remove your display, the issue of poor connectivity is gone. This new display is backwards compatible with previous generations.

This is great Will! I have 2 EM bikes with the side mount, however, I recently exchanged one of them to the center (heads up) display under warranty. The issues I had was sticky pins on the back losing connection causing COMM errors. This seemed to correct most of my problems. So the GEN 3 no longer has pins the way I am understanding it, correct? The center display I have has pins that are mounted on a control pad which seem less problematic than the side mounted version. Thanks for sharing!

The new displays are Gen 4 and the problems with sticky pins is gone. However one loses the ability to remove the display.
 
I have a 2018 or 2019 (?) Easy Motion Street that cuts power occasionally (no power to the motor but the display still works). If the battery is removed and reinstalled it will continue working until the next time it does it. I've cleaned the contacts on the battery & cradle but it continues to fail. Any suggestions of places to start troubleshooting or common culprits?

First place to check, the barrel connectors (x2) at the handlebar. Make sure they are screwed tight. Then the brake cutoffs (x2), also at the handlebar, push tight. Then the motor cable connector (x1) near the rear dropout, push tight.

Do these have a BB mounted pedal sensor or is it a torque sensor mounted on the wheel dropout?

The torque sensor is in the right rear dropout.

BCBeaver-I too have Easy Motion bikes. As JR has indicated the location of the torque sensor; Not a bad idea to get some Contact Cleaner spray (the kind that is safe for plastics) and then clean the sensor thoroughly. If it gets dirty in that area, that can cause a lot of errors during operation. This method helped me clear up many false/positive errors received from the firmware. Good luck!
 
@BCBeaver take a look at the “+” and “-“ terminals on the battery and connector on the bike (2 larger tabs). If you see any arking / marks on the sides it’s an indication that there is poor contact between the battery and the mounting connector on the bike. You can also try to turn the bike on and wobble the battery back and forth to see if you loose connection at the display (battery % flashes, display blinks or some sort of change on the display happens). If you do see something happen on the display you can do the following:

Gently bend the tabs on the connector on the bike outwards slightly (not the battery since you can damage the battery connectors, that would be expensive to fix) which will make for a better connection. Highly recommend apply a very thin skin of dielectric grease to these 2 pins (not the small one’s) to reduce future arking.

*Note do this above step if you see any arking on the “=“ or “-“ tabs and be gentle as to avoid breaking the plastic mount on the bike.

I am having an issue that just started on my Evo Jet charging unit. After a full charge, I get a 'flashing' green light on the charger LED instead of a steady light. However, the battery does charge to 100%. Anyone know what this is or why it would start doing this?

In addition, I recently noticed my display is stuck in KPH instead of MPH. Several attempts tried setting it back in the settings menu to no avail.
I have also done a few POPOs to no avail as well. Any suggestions appreciated?
 
Was going to get the new display to avoid the contacts issue, but wondering if I should upgrade to center console? Will that work with the 2018 Evo Cross Pro?

If you have the side mount display on your bike, it should work. It is basically plug and play and uses the same connections. I swapped over to the Center Display, and I think it is a great upgrade from the oval side mounted version. The other choice would be to purchase the GEN4 as mentioned above. If the pins are sticking on your current display, send back to the dealer and have them swap it out for the Center display and you could pay the difference.

Does this also work with the Rear wheel motor as well, i had heard that it may not work with it. Has anyone used it with the rear wheel motors?
 
My wife and I have Evo pro’s both go well but have a slight motor surge that can be felt on smooth surfaces but not on gravel where the bikes roll is restricted, can this be sorted by a torque sensor adjustment of some kind ?

Hi Gil- I was getting motor surge with a mix of error codes on my Evo Jet. I cleared up most of those effects with a can of contact cleaner (safe for plastics) applied to a cloth then thoroughly cleaned the torque sensor. I also re-tightened all of the cable connections. Good Luck!

I have the bike in my possession now, and have performed all the known issue repairs but my son lost the key for the battery and I cannot remove the battery to re-set and check it.

Does anyone know where I can get a battery key? The place where I purchased the bike is no help and the manufacturer is not open for business or is closed due to Covid.

This dealer lists a replacement lock and keys.


The locks are all different, each has a numbered key. Without that number I doubt anyone will be able to supply the key. Most people, including dealers, don't document that number. BH supplies 4 keys with the bike, but I guess you've exhausted all possibility of finding one.

If you can get a new lock you'll have to drill the old one out to release the dead bolt that inserts into the bottom of the battery.

Don't ask me how a person can loose 4 keys - but I will say there has been a lot of moving and the keys either got thrown out with the bathwater or they are still in a box somewhere...
