So recently i started to have this weird problem with my neo cross where i get error 09 on my display randomly.
The display freezes first, motor turns off, display shows error 09 and then after 5 sec it all gets back to normal and everything starts working again
Would be cool if any of you could help me with this problem since it only started to happen recently
There is a couple of reasons why this is happening and you should check the following. While an error 9 typically indicates an issue with the drive unit it can also be triggered by other areas on the bike. So you will need to check and clean the following (*NOTE: You will need some rubbing alcohol, a “plastics safe” electronics contact cleaner and some paper towels):
1- Remove the battery from the bike, wear safety glasses.
2- Remove the motor connector and ensure that the connectors are clean. Use the contact cleaner to clean connections, dry it out and then reconnect making sure to align the arrows on each end of the connectors.
3- On the side of the bike just near the rear derailleur there is a torque sensor cover with 2 Allen head screws. Remove them and the cover. Spray contact cleaner in this area to clean out any dirt / debris. Dry out and reassemble. DO NOT overtighten the 2 screws, they just need to be lightly snug.
4- Remove the display and turn upside down. With a soft object like an eraser on a pencil push down lightly on each connector to ensure they compress and spring back. If one or more pins do not return to their full extended position then the display may be making poor contact and creating the intermittent error.
5- Make sure all contacts on the display and display mount are clean. If not use a slightly damp (not soaking wet) paper towel with rubbing alcohol and clean the surfaces clean.
6- Make sure you display mount is not overly tight as this can cause an uneven surface for the display to mount to and cause a poor connection which will throw an error code.
7- Clean the connector on the bike where the battery mounts to. Ensure the 2 larger tabs are clean but more importantly the small contacts on the top surface are clean. DO NOT CLEAN THE CONTACTS ON THE BATTERY
8- Ensure all connectors ont he handlebar area are tight and have not worked themselves loose.
Hope this helps,
