Known Issues & Problems with Easy Motion Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Thanks Tony for the followup-Wow I just contacted them regarding my display contacts sticking. I just went ahead and swapped it out for the PRO center display as an upgrade. Prior to this, I was receiving error codes 14, 5, and 13s. I thought this would do the trick, however, the errors have returned after a few rides. Perhaps I need to purchase the torque sensor cleaning spray suggested by Will from Scootertti and start there. Have you done any upgrades to your Evo Jet? Any error codes received recently? Just curious.

I haven't had any error codes except when I leave my foot on the pedal when I turn it on and it give me 'FOOT' error at startup. On 2-3 occasions I felt power cutting out when I hit a major bumps. I'm not sure if that's really happening or if reading someone's post on here made me look for something that's not really a problem.

As for upgrades, no. I have just done some customization like: the Suntour sp12-ncx suspension seat, stem extender, etc. Nothing else really.

Curious if anyone has the bluetooth module for smart phones. Not sure if they still support it.

Tony-
Great to hear you are not having any error code issues. When I hit major bumps which causes some chain slap, the power will not necessarily cut out, but will cause the bike to lung forward due to sudden chain movement next to the torque sensor. Court has stated warnings of this symptom in his video reviews. I usually make a mental note of that when it occurs and do not see it as a problem.
Not sure about the Bluetooth functionality. Does not seem to be too popular on these bikes from what I have seen thus far...

My 2017 Atom Lynx 6 is stuck in level 2 and is not responding to the + and - buttons. The bike has 390 miles on it.
Just spit-balling here, I'd try removing the battery, wait a few minutes and reinstall. Might reset the system. I've read that has helped resolve errors on some bikes.

Thanks. I'll try that. Now the display panel is blank...nothing.

The one time I had problems with the Brose system on my Bulls it was simply a connection that had barely pulled apart. I pulled it fully apart and reconnected it, and it was fine again.

Look for any place along the wiring that might pull apart - even the slightest disconnect can throw the whole thing off. Start from the display, and if it's removable, clean the little connector pins on it and its mount. Hope you don't have to bring the bike in!

My 2 cents-I have used "Contact cleaner spray for plastics" (WD-40 product) and it works like a charm on any of your electrical connections. I was also having multiple coded errors on my EM Jet torque sensor. Will from Scooteretti suggested I clean the torque sensor with the spray and I have not had any more errors for months on end afterwards. Good to have a can on hand for your E-bike IMO. Good Luck!

So recently i started to have this weird problem with my neo cross where i get error 09 on my display randomly.
The display freezes first, motor turns off, display shows error 09 and then after 5 sec it all gets back to normal and everything starts working again
Would be cool if any of you could help me with this problem since it only started to happen recently

There is a couple of reasons why this is happening and you should check the following. While an error 9 typically indicates an issue with the drive unit it can also be triggered by other areas on the bike. So you will need to check and clean the following (*NOTE: You will need some rubbing alcohol, a “plastics safe” electronics contact cleaner and some paper towels):

1- Remove the battery from the bike, wear safety glasses.

2- Remove the motor connector and ensure that the connectors are clean. Use the contact cleaner to clean connections, dry it out and then reconnect making sure to align the arrows on each end of the connectors.

3- On the side of the bike just near the rear derailleur there is a torque sensor cover with 2 Allen head screws. Remove them and the cover. Spray contact cleaner in this area to clean out any dirt / debris. Dry out and reassemble. DO NOT overtighten the 2 screws, they just need to be lightly snug.

4- Remove the display and turn upside down. With a soft object like an eraser on a pencil push down lightly on each connector to ensure they compress and spring back. If one or more pins do not return to their full extended position then the display may be making poor contact and creating the intermittent error.

5- Make sure all contacts on the display and display mount are clean. If not use a slightly damp (not soaking wet) paper towel with rubbing alcohol and clean the surfaces clean.

6- Make sure you display mount is not overly tight as this can cause an uneven surface for the display to mount to and cause a poor connection which will throw an error code.

7- Clean the connector on the bike where the battery mounts to. Ensure the 2 larger tabs are clean but more importantly the small contacts on the top surface are clean. DO NOT CLEAN THE CONTACTS ON THE BATTERY

8- Ensure all connectors ont he handlebar area are tight and have not worked themselves loose.

Hope this helps,

Will

When booting up the computer it’s super important not to apply any pressure to the pedals. During the boot up process the the toque sensor voltage is being calibrated and if there is pressure applied to the pedals, the computer will see that as an abnormal reading and trigger an error code. This is for the riders safety.

well i just cleaned the contacts on the battery and where the battery stays and then i cleaned the display mount too and then washed my bike and it fixed the problem since i was riding in mud and in sand. I will need to clean it again though since it rained yesterday and i was driving trough the rain and my bike looks like a piece of s*it rn

Another offtopic question btw:
How long do you think my easy motion battery will last?
It was manufacturated at 2016-08-30 so it's been 2+ years.
I bought the bike this summer though so i just wanna know how much will it last until it needs to be replaced

I have a easy motion jumper 650B 2015 model. Somehow I broke the female connector loose from the inside of the battery and was not able to plug it back into the bike frame side. After taking the battery cover off (not easy) and removing the BMS I am able to hold the plug in place and connect to the bike. The plug was held in place by two tiny screws and some adhesive. The screws broke the plastic tabs off. My plan is to use some JB weld or marine grade 5200 to glue the female plug in place in the case, on the bike, put it back together and use the external charge port in the future.

My question is, has anyone here run across this problem and is there a better fix. A new case for the battery would be the best fix. $600 or $700 dollars for a new battery is too expensive right now and the cells in this one seem to be in very good condition. I would also be interested in buying a used battery that is no good just for the case.

Thanks

Once that connector is broken it's very difficult to get it to hold back into place and stay there to ensure a good connection against the male mount on the bike. Adhesives simply don't hold up to the task. The only way really to come up with something that will be behind the plug and the battery cover which will firmly hold the female connector on the battery in place when installing it on the bike.

These connectors can get damaged if the mating surfaces between the battery and the male mount on the bike are not properly aligned.

Ouch! Thanks for the heads up. I have not had this issue on my EM, however, I'll be mindful when mounting/dismounting the battery as I do this quite frequently for each and every charging cycle. I did not know the ports/plugs could get broken loose over time. They seem very well built and not subject to damage if not abused and aligned properly.

Thanks again Will for your very informative and useful advice on fixes with our bikes! Cheers!

I have had to replace my computer on my 2017 Easy Motion Street 3 times and now it is not functioning correctly again. The first time it occurred was after 3,000 km and now I have about 5,500 km. This time, first the Odometer reset to zero and now it doesn’t keep track of any new km I ride (about 150km). While riding today I got an error code 14, I turn off the computer restarted it and it was gone. Then the computer completely shut down when I was riding up a long hill.

Has any one else had ongoing problems with their bikes computer?

I am having another issue with my display. I have had my Emotion Street for 2 riding seasons, I have rode about 5,500 km and I am on my 4 display that now has an issue. I has lost the total Km cycled. Has anyone switched to the newer center display?

WTHYN- Yes, I have. Big improvement in the new center display compared to the side mount. As documented in this forum, the spring loaded contacts located on the back of the display can get sticky, causing a lose connection which can cause multiple errors. In addition, follow Will's (from Scooteretti's) advice on how to resolve these issues with this system. Another documented fix for errors, is make sure you properly clean the TMM4 torque sensor with a good cleaner. The sensor is located next to the smallest cog in the cassettes. The proper cleaner is an electronics spray that is safe for plastics. If perhaps you need further technical assistance, shoot Will an IM. He is very knowledgeable with these sort of issues with these bikes. Good Luck!

WTHYN- Possibility your side mount display is losing contact causing these issues. Remove the display and work the contacts using a can of compressed air to get them to spring up evenly. Watch for 'lazy' contacts in the group. I would use a hollow tipped pencil to push down on them.
