Just got an XP3.0 and the rear tire is flat (wont inflate) and it wont power up.

Fully charged unit and tuned the key every different way - even though the instructions aren't very consistent.

I sent the company an email on the tire-I'll add the bit about the electric situation when they reply. I think its going to one of their 'partner' local biz

You mighta got a dud, although it's probably a basic oversight on your part. One thing as an Lectric owner, they stand behind their stuff and will make you whole. Just call or email the guys and gals in Phoenix and all will work out fine. Enjoy your Lectric and welcome to EBR...

Well, I found the rear tire leak; you can audibly hear it come out when pumping with a hand pump. And I found that the clip for the battery safety was still in place (unit didnt have any manual and its not mentioned in the online version), but even after removing it, it wont power up.

The presence of the battery safety clip caused the contacts to shift out of place.

I'll add, that even the QR code for the battery doesnt not indicate anything about the safety clip. The video they put up 3 weeks ago mentions it - at about 2min 30s watch - At a min the packing for the bike should include a link to the video.

The EASIEST thing for Lectric to do is put a BIG YELLOW sticker over the contacts so it cant be unfolded to the riding position without the removal of clip. SMH

Even if Lectic sends you a new tube, it might be worth trying some tire sealant, like Slime, Stans, FlatOut, etc. On a new bike though, I'm guessing a spoke or a pinch flat, neither of which are best candidates for sealant.

I'd suggest removing the tube, finding and fixing the flat, and then, worst case, use it as a spare. But find out where the leak is and what caused it, if at all possible, and resolve that issue.

Tire sealant is a good long term idea, regardless.

TT

The tire was repaired Sat - AND they said it does come with slime, but it doesnt have very much thats for sure. And considering where the perforation was https://photos.app.goo.gl/1oFVHp9DR8esmkN68

, it does not appear that sealant would help much, as it is on the inside of the circumference - it didnt have much in it, and it probably wont make it to seal a perforation on the inside; the natural rotation will make it more functional for a puncture on the tire side.

if its on the inside then its your rim and you need to put on rim tape to make it smooth on the inside.

Yep, it had tape from the factory and it appeared to be intact with no signs of corruption. According to the video above, as there have been a large number (of flats) in the last 3 weeks, it appears to be something with how the tubes might be getting overfilled when being transported in FedEx aircraft.

The operator at the shop who repaired it yesterday said he thought it might have been dropped during shipping. But the box showed no signs of that and it's strange since they come folded that it's more often the back tire than the front.

Otherwise, a good experience. The motor on the 3.0 is better (relative to PAS load) than the XPremium I got 1 week prior. You keep it on PAS1 and just barely pedal and it's at 9mph. You really need to use a higher gear to put any load on the pedals

My XPedition (w/double-bat option) arrived (8/27/23) with two bad tubes. Both failed within 10 miles with a seam separation on the inside next to the rim. Ordered tubes on Amazon and replaced and all was well. Lectric did replace the tubes. But - because I hate flats I have since replaced the Lectric tires with Pirelli motorcycle/scooter angle tires (90/80-16, with motorcycle double-tough-tubes 3.00-3.25/16 w/TR-6 valve stems) and expect to get many, many flat free miles out of them. Shinko 241 tires are also good per sic puppy, who has a bunch of good info and who got me started on the alternate tire investigation. The new tires weigh around 3lbs more than the original but ride really well - nice and smooth. I only ride on the street and bike trails. I usually ride my un-powered TREK but go shopping on the XPedition. We are lucky to live near many bike trails that run near several shopping areas. I'm retired (73 yrs old) and seldom start my car anymore. One note - check those valve stem cores. My rear tough tube arrived with a loose valve stem core and was losing air. Gently tightened the valve core and all was well. Another note - the Pirelli tire and tube setup is so stiff I rode several miles (made it home) without realizing the rear tire has lost all its air...!!!
