Just for fun...

Ah, that explains why this old joke was so popular back in grade school:

Q: What did the constipated mathematician do?

A: He worked it out with a pencil.
Well, better a pencil than one of these i suppose...

He's great with these, easy going & funny. Has done nearly all the pros MVDP, Pog, Pidcock and lately TdF Femmes winner Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney around the cafes of beautiful Girona.

Even did one with surrealist Irish comedian (and avid cyclist) David O'Doherty!

Very funny guy, amazing collection! Here's another fun one:

Gas pumps should be seen and not heard

Our first fill-up after leaving coastal San Diego County came in the Sierra foothills between Fresno and Yosemite. And with it came an unexpected treat — a gas pump with no ads blaring at me while I'm stuck there filling up.

Every single pump back home blares loud ads now. Drives me nuts.

I totally agree.
Sheetz is a big convenience store / gas station chain here in the east. In addition to the pumps, they also have loudspeakers inside & outside the building, blaring rock music. I can't even go to the restroom without bouncing to the beat! It's also difficult to converse with the clerk at the checkout counter.

The funny part is, there are signs that say "No Loitering", but the music just seems to attract the youngsters who hang out both in and outside the building.

I guess it's an age thing.

In the UK they are even more extreme! They have these teams of radical dudes going around with cordless grinders cutting down all the steel poles that have the traffic cameras mounted on them, even ones with traffic lights up there too. Blade runners they call them. Cameras to send you a fine when you're driving down the wrong street for the age of your car. The UK establishment has totally lost the plot!

In china they now have drones on top of the poles that fly up and down knocking points off your social credit for even the tiniest law breaking.

If I went to China I'd be paraded on TV hanging from a drone.

For these bike fans, it's definitely just for fun!
Driving north on the San Diego Freeway recently, we came up on this convoy of cars and trucks with unusually colorful bikes on back just south of LA...

What the heck's that all about?? A little digging on the web came up with a plausible answer...

An LED bike meet and rideout that very day at Marina del Rey just up ahead. Guessing they put the lights on at the event, cuz no fancy lighting visible on the bikes in transit. Only one ebike in the bunch.

A similar event at Venice Beach the weekend before. Not a fan of bike takeovers, as they don't win us any friends, but a HUGE fan of colored lights moving in the dark.

Per AI...

That's what that is! In the summer, I see this crew pretty frequently in Santa Monica if I have a late body boarding session, which isn't often.

I'll be getting out of the water, usually right before sunset (allowing some extra time before full dark in case something crazy happens-- rip current, having to wait out a set that's too big, etc.)

Right at or after twilight, when I'm heading for the showers or rinsing off my suit or stowing my gear, they all ride by on the bike path. It's an amazing sight. (I thought the music was obnoxious at first, but now it's just part of the vibe.)
