Is that your father on the left, or was the 1953 bike already old at that time in your life?

It is me on the left I got the bike for the duration of my 1990 stay in West Germany from a German Professor and a company director. The other boy was his son.
The bike was in a mint condition and had some magic in it. I could successfully race against German roadies on my spare time rides!

This 1953 German bike had a shifter mounted on the top tube, similar to what you showed, Charge, only less gears. I swear that's true!

Once I put some cycling shorts on being unaware their cut or design was wrong for my body. The legs of my shorts kept riding up!

How my riding mates laughed at me when they saw it!
