Just for fun...

Took Roxie to the vet for some routine immunizations the other day.

A bubbly young female tech came out to take her back for the shots. "Oh my god, Roxie's so CUTE!! Who does her eyebrows?"

Everyone else in the room cracked up, even the receptionists, but Roxie knew that nothing good could come of this.

Googled "bicycles in space" just for fun. Most of the top hits were about this anthology:

You hear a lot about intersectionality these days — especially in identity politics, where you might hear a piece about how hard it is to be a left-handed white trisexual basketball player with freckles.

Not to belittle womens' cycling in any way, but have to say that feminist cyclists in space is one intersectionality I didn't see coming.
:^}
It would be very cheap of me to make a comment about how unconcerned your post is about our alarm at the original search.

The problems with cars is vastly more than co2.

Case in point: The white Jeep we park outside is a constant reminder of the massive amount of tire and brake dust coming off the San Diego Freeway (I-5) just ½ mi to our west. That puts us downwind 99% of the time, and the flow of cars and trucks never stops.

Coming back from the car wash, the Jeep's as white as this visiting great egret. The next day, you can see the dark freeway dust starting to collect on west-facing paint. A week later, you can almost write in it with your finger. No other significant sources of dark-colored dust here.

A pulmonologist recently told me that studies looking at patterns of lung disease near major highways consistently show no significant correlation in adults. But there's definitely a correlation with asthma severity in kids, so the auto pollution's clearly not innocuous.

And how do the egrets and their fellow widlife species fare? The freeway crosses or runs along about half a dozen major lagoons and estuaries from LA to SD.

Benidorm is basically the British Vegas or Daytona, I rode through it in the 90s, but its never been my kind of place, just a bit too tacky for me.
Its only a 2.5hr flight from me and stupidly cheap to stay, drink and eat.
It has a reputation as the worst example of British low rent culture, but you know you would secretly have a good time there.

We drove the east coast of Spain from Alicante to Valencia in 2010 — just one stunning meeting of land and blue sea after another. At one point, we passed the massive concentration of skyscrapers mentioned in the video — totally out of character with the rest of the coast we saw — and thought, what on Earth is that??

Didn't know it at the time, but that was Benidorm. The restaurant in Tappas Alley on the quiet side reminded me of a similar place in Barcelona — perfect food and a perfect way to eat it.

Rode into a real Spanish coastal town, on Saturday night they close the roads and the beautiful people walk the streets, I have never seen so many utterly stunning Spanish women, it was a sight to behold, all in classic Spanish dresses.
It rewrote my conception of what beautiful is.

This very American sounding Japanese guy goes off on Japanese people idolising white people, its just the first few minutes, but its quite odd to hear his accent and speaking style.

Had a similar experience in downtown Barcelona on a weekday in 2010. A steady stream of elegant women in very classy $5k designer outfits on every sidewalk.

And every single one of them had on the same metallic silver sneakers, all ages!! Like these...

In fact, nearly every woman had them on. No clue why. Really wanted to stop one and ask what's up with the silver sneakers, but that wasn't in my Spanish phrase book.
