A short hello from Lititz. I have an EZ-3 USX HD and I have modified it extensively. I changed the components from the original wire disc brakes to TRP HY/RD cable actuated hydraulic disc brakes. More response and control. Since I'm handicapped with weak hands, they are easier to use. I couldn't use the twist grip shifters so this week I went to electric shifters from Archer Components D1X Trail. Just tap a button up or down and it shifts - easy and precise (adj. in .25mm adjustments). Now I have the bike I can ride up to 50 miles with out recharging.

Hey Jack! Welcome to the forum. There's a bunch of us here from central PA.

Hello from another central Pennsylvania rider. I am in Selinsgrove and seem to get over your way once or twice a year. Welcome to EBR.

Also from PA., up in the northeast corner near Scranton. If you're a trail rider, lots to choose from in the state.

I've been looking at that Archer D1X Trail electronic shifter and am curious of your opinion. I've read a lot of good reviews on the product, the only negative is the lag time between shifts. Some say it is a bit awkward while others don't notice. My main concern is recharging the batteries. They have to be removed to do so which is just another maintenance issue to deal with. The pros seem to outweigh the cons though and I like the idea of removing the shifter mechanism from the handlebars.

Art Deco -

I don't notice any lag on shifts. I think it all depends on how you have it adjusted. I spent extra time making sure the shift was centered on the gear and then used "overshift" choice in menu to over shift and let the chain drop back on to the gear. I have an extra set of batteries I always have, then charge the discharged ones after switched. I think you'd like them and they give you a 30 day no question asked money back.

Welcome. You have such a beautiful area in which to ride. My wife and I used to bring our analog bikes from Wilmington, DE to Bird-in-Hand to ride Amish country. Loved every mile.
