is the USB port on recently received Juiced Bikes functional or still deactivated?

Got my CrossCurrent at the end of May 2017 and wondering about the USB port. Mine isn't working - I thought with newer batteries the USB functioned?

Got the word from Luiz at Juiced - the USB port is still deactivated and in the future they will offer a USB cable option near the handlebars.

USB on the battery can result in the pack Self-Discharging and this can cause permanent damage to the battery. We do not want this feature and requested a BMS without the USB DC-DC converter. But the packs are all tooled with the USB port and it is actually more expensive to take the port off.

I'm interested in the new RipCurrent S. Does it have a USB port? The site doesn't mention one.
