So there you have it. 28 miles top speed, up to 80 miles on a charge, and just as light weight as the old system, the new BionX D series will revolutionize conversion kit technology and we couldn’t be more excited to have them in stock! Don’t wait! Get your Next-Gen BionX D500 today
Can anyone confirm if this is true? I thought all bionX systems were capped at 20mph.

Hi Lenny,

I just spoke to the dealer, who called BionX personally. He said that there is no way to unlock to 28mph, the unlock codes have not worked since 2010 models. Can you please confirm if you're able to unlock on a kit?
He did confirm that OHM bikes are factory unlocked.

Apparently since a few years ago there is no way to unlock a kit, and no way to unlock the D500.

I have my Bionx D 500 installed for a month and yep it's true .. It tops off at 20 mph. To get it to do 25mph you really have to push the pedals hard.Which is good and bad whenever you want to catch up to road bikes and light weight commuter bikes. Overall it's a great system, you can use it to push your self harder when you put the assist in negative mode and recharge the battery which is a plus! But beware it's expensive( 2800 with tax and install)

Oh and if anyone figured out how to unlock it and give it the OHM specs for 28 mph, share the love :)

I would be fine with the ohm setup like that. But when it's installed on a regular bike.. The system will start to resist when you hit about 22 mph with pedal assist and that's my issue with it

I hear you loud and clear. I tried several mid-motors, Haibike, IZip e3 Peak, etc...........I tried the OHM XS750vlast, and it was the smoothest, quietess by far. Handled like a ferrari............I was sold.

You can go past the 20mph limit if you reflash your 48v BionX system with bigxionflasher.com. I did it and I can go ~26 mph without pedaling with my Bionx S350 DL.
