How to turn on backlight?

My backlight (for the display) quit working and I'm wondering if this is a hardware/light problem or if it's in the settings. I tried to follow the instructions in the manual for changing the backlight, but I couldn't figure it out.

Any ideas? Thanks!

FROM MANUAL:
To access the setup function of the computer:
Press and hold the joystick to the left while squeezing the right-side brake lever. Press the battery
power button to turn on the system, then continue to hold the joystick to the left and the brake lever closed for 3 seconds.

FWIW, when I follow these steps to get to the setup mode, I only see Temp and Ver and never the backlight y/n.

The backlight never goes on- does that mean it's dead because the only settings are on for 5 seconds and on permanently (meaning there's no actually setting for fully off)?

Source: Manual says:

Set backlight:
Press
the joystick left or
right to choose
the desired setting
(backlight always on
or 5 seconds), then
press the joystick
down (center)

The Manual is incorrect regarding how you get into backlight and km/mile setup mode.
  1. You have to power the bike down.
  2. Then you push the joystick vertically in the center position (not up/down/left/right) and hold for 10 seconds while holding the power button for 3 seconds.
  3. Release the power button after the 3 seconds and the joystick center position after 10.
  4. You should be in km/h miles/h setup. Use joystick left/right to set. Press joystick center.
  5. You should be in backlight Y/N. Use left/right to set. Press center again.
  6. You should now be in operational mode.
If you got into the setup modes, set backlight on and it is still not working, then the backlight itself has failed.

Thanks, Douglas, how did you ever figure that out?!? Talk about not intuitive...

The good news is that it got me to the miles/km and the backlight y/n screens. The bad news is that it didn't turn on the light.

Dealer pinged and hopefully they'll just get me a new display.

I just had mine replaced backlight stopped working. Is the second time I got it replaced in very short period of time.
