How Far Away Is The Gates Belt For The Hydra ?

In the video Pushkar said he testing them, but it's tricky and there is more than one way to do it.
I am sure there are people ordering and buying this Ebike would like to know what a realistic time out for this is.
Could it happen in 2021 or is this 2022 ?
I think if you can pull this off you could have the ultimate Ebike for this category very few brands have, if any.
Any Ebikes tick all those boxes ?

Shouldn’t be too hard to do. Just have to get the right chainline.
Apparently it's harder than it looks, because you need to keep it tight but let it flex for the maximum travel of the suspension, which also means putting on a different suspension later on as a better upgrade with more travel could cause issues. Also if Pushkar is giving you options with suspension with the Ebike he has to makes sure they all work, he has to test them all.
 
The main issue is the range of tensioning. MTB have a large rear travel, and depending on swingarm geometry, that can translate in a large amount of belt slack that a tensioner has to take...
 
There is also the issue that the tensioners typically work by adding in a back bend to the belt - that is, pushing from outside the loop to apply tension. Gates does not recommend doing this with their belts. A successful geometry would need to have the fulcrum points for the suspension and the belt as close to each other as possible, to minimize the amount of tensioning required.
 
We have a prototype that does up to 100mm rear travel. Trulyspeaking that is the same as the Kinect seatpost. So doesn’t add a lot of value.

However as @scrambler pointed out, the solution needs to robust enough to give us a true 160-170mm travel range reliably.

The Hydra has 170mm rear travel?
 
Measured at the rear axle yes
That is based on a shock travel of 65mm.
Obviously a different shock travel would produce a different rear travel.

The FOX FLOAT X2 max travel is 89mm / 3.5"
Couldn't you test it with that one as it's the best one you offer for options ?
 
It looks like BMW changed the whole design and attached the motor to the rear triangle instead of the main frame. Those Germans really are something. The RM carries the belt up high to eliminate the need to split the rear triangle or do a split belt which is weaker. Both genius ideas.
