How do you secure your bike?

Having to worry about my bike being stolen makes it un-enjoyable to ride
Supposed to be riding it not parking it ;). I usually don't leave my bike where I can't see it or it will be where there is a lot of foot traffic so that if someone tried to steal it, it would be obvious. For going into a store for a quick purchase I don't think a thief would have enough time to get through the locks by the time I came back out. On rides if I want to stop and grab a bite I will eat someplace that has outdoor seating where I can see my bike or by a window where I can see it. I just purchased remote motion alarms for my ebikes as an additional deterrent. I am currently using these and how "I" secure my bikes temporarily if needed, (ebikes go inside my house when not being used). I will consider the HipLok D1000 when it becomes available.

A lot of times I just use a z-loc as a cafe lock. I know that is a totally inappropriate use of them but again I live in a very small community with relatively low risks of bike theft.

One thing that you can't overestimate is that it is very important that your bike isn't too pretty and too clean. Most bike thieves in urban areas fence their bike within a few hours, and a dirty or slightly uglified bike might sell for $100 less than a shiny clean new-looking bike. Yes, you can take uglification to extremes (see below) but letting your bike accumulate a few scratches and scrapes and a dignified amount of grime will make it much less appealing to bike thieves.

Over did it with the tape. It's obvious what he's trying to do just by looking at the tape.
