I bought an Air Shock as a replacement for my E-Bike’s Rear Shock. Also got a high pressure pump from Amazon. It did not fill it. The air would leak out each time I unscrewed the fitting. Sent it back and after researching I found a very nice pump that is easy to operate and works extremely well. It is a little pricey but it is Quality. It is everything they said about it. I surprised at how easy it is to pump and operate. I got it on the “Black Friday” sale at a $30 discount.
Here is a video of it.

As you've discovered, you need a pump specifically designed for air shocks. There are many out there with varying prices. The Silca is a great choice, but a bit high priced. Likely a good product to own, especially if you use it frequently.

I use this relatively cheap unit from Fox:

I use it a couple of times a season and so far, no problems in 6 years of use.
