Thanks for the add. I am in Rotorua, the mountain bike capital of New Zealand.

I recently bought my first e-bike, (I've had it about 2 weeks). Here's a link to what I got: https://www.torpedo7.co.nz/products...e--1-pro-32km-h-e-bike?sr=giant+trance+e+2020

I have a problem with the walk mode and wondering if anyone has any wisdom they can share?

It is supposed to assist at no faster than 6km/h, but mine literally wants to take me off my feet! So much faster than a sensible walking speed. I've gone back to the dealer but they've said they need to contact Giant, that was 4 days ago and I'm not very patient haha.

Any thoughts on why this bike has no sense of reality about the speed I can walk? I've tried changing to highest and lowest gear, no difference, still wants to fly.

Thanks in advance, Lee

Hi Lee,

My favorite local bike shop is a Giant dealer and I was told by the owner when they service Giant ebikes with the SyncDrive/Yamaha motors all he needs do is plug a cable into the controller and diagnostics are done remotely by a Giant service technician. Changing the speed of walk mode ought to be a simple fix, given what you paid I would ask the dealer to make it right within the week, and if they don't respond contact Giant corporate offices in Auckland https://www.giant-bicycles.com/int/about-us/office/new-zealand

Thank you for the reply. The dealer finally rang back yesterday afternoon, (4 days after I had shown them the issue). They want the bike in today so hopefully they will resolve it for me! If not, I'll do as you suggest and contact Giant direct. Thanks again!

Hi Leeo

My wife has the Giant Trance E+0 but the 2019 model, walk mode works fine on hers,if you have it in the lowest gear(large ring) is it still faster than working speed?
My wife has hand a good run with hers,no problems to date, only done about 700km though.

We have a bike trip to
Rotorua next year, have not riden there before, looking forward to that.

Cheers Shane
