My name is Burton and I’ve been working as an e-bike tech for about 10 years now. It’s a field that changes rapidly and I sure don’t pretend to have all the answers so my intention was to learn from other people’s experience as much as offer advice.
I have had training in Bosch, Shimano STEPS and Velec motors but also work for a distributor part time that sells and installs aftermarket kits, as well as a variety of Taiwanese e-bikes including SuperSoco.
Most of my own bikes are not e-bikes. However I have rebuilt a few Velecs from the ground up to better understand them and to look for ways to make them more reliable.
The next e-bike in my sights is a Norco Sight VLT which I’m not expecting to see until May sometime. The best way to troubleshoot something is to understand it inside out and the best way to understand something is ... to drive it yourself
