Hello, I am an e-bike fan. my first e-bike was purchased in 2018 and unfortunately died just out of warranty. I have been riding non-powered since and really need to revisit getting it electrified.
I would love to hear if anyone has experience with replacing the front hub motor on a gazelle orange inergy XT with either a replacement gazelle part or an alternative.
The bike frame, setup, and gearing are perfect for me so I would love to keep the bike. I know that I would probably get a better ride/torque if I had a mid-drive motor but I don't think I can fit it on the frame, so I haven't considered this. The other issue is finding an alternative front hub motor and wheel which will fit the dimensions of the forks, 120 -130 mm if anyone has some advice or recommendations I would be very happy to have a chat.

Nice ride. You can convert with any other front hub motor probably, they sell as "power wheels". Yours is probably geared. You'll have to hang the controller under the seat (see my picture) and tie-wrap a lot of messy wiring to the tubes. Your battery connector might be standard, but might be unusable. Check gazelle forum under brand forums for details. I've had a $221 ebikeling front hub motor, ~4500 miles til gears wore out, $750 Mac12t front hub motor ~2000 miles until rain burnt up the controller & wire harness, now a bafang 500 w front hub motor which is pretty feeble. Bike left was originally unpowered, but 25 mph headwinds make my 27 mile commute from summer camp take 6 hours sometimes - before electricity. Rode unpowered today, 10 mph headwind.
Note messy wiring may inhibit theft. I park my bike locked to cart racks at stores, fences at restaurants, gas meters, power poles, all the time. Same bike 3.7 years. Then again girlie green may inhibit theft, too. Purple fat wheels gets them stolen over the wooden fence in the back yard, a previous owner told me.
