Hello everyone,
In my ongoing quest to do more of my own maintenance I've managed to pretty much thread the hex socket on my front thru axle. (Yay for learning experiences!) I must have failed to fully inserted the torque wrench on a few previous installs and now it's tricky to get purchase on socket.
I took it into my LBS and neither they nor Giant Australia stock replacements. (Horray for the support of big three networks!) Giant is trying to source one from overseas but they've given me no timeframe or even certainty they can do so. RST Global have not answered my web queries. So I'm trying to track down a replacement myself.
The thru axle comes with my RST Vivair E shocks. Specs on the thru axle are scant. The UK Giant site gave me the most info, listing a '15x100' axle. I'm loathe to attempt to take it off to measure as a) everything is working just fine for the time being, and b) I may not be able to put it back on again! If I find a replacement I'll probably take it in to the LBS and get them to swap axles when I get my next service.
Possibly compatible products include:
RST Thru Axle
Brand-X Bolt Thru Axle in 100-148-11-M15 size
Both these are quick release, which suits me just fine if they fit
Wolf Tooth axle bit $$$y
Rockshox SRAM Mahle I'm not even sure this is compatible
