Has anyone tried the new Rohloff E14 Trigger Shifter yet
Image.jpeg

I have a Rohloff E14 Trigger Shifter, but I'm not sure if it is the 'new' one?

I have it, it is perfect and doesn't look like it was made on my bedroom 3D printer!

I have been using it now for 3 weeks and it is a really good upgrade. The only issue I have is that even though it works perfectly to change gear, I have a problem in not being able to upgrade the software on my Rohloff in order to be able to do recalibrations. I have contacted Rohloff and I am waiting for them to provide me with a solution. ( I specially purchased an android phone to download the version 1 app to do the software upgrade and followed all the instructions on their website, but it refuses to authenticate my hub, despite finding it !)

Did you hear back from Rohloff yet? I’m having the same issue As well. LBS doesn’t have an answer either.

This is the message they sent to me.... I have blanked out the code as I think it was specific to my bike.

Good luck !!

Dear Customer,

It is likely that an incorrect serial number is stored in the E-14 unit, which is preventing a connection from being established.

Based on the images and data you provided, we have generated the following temporary serial number for one-time use:

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Please enter the serial number without spaces – they are provided here for better readability only.

After the update, the serial number will be displayed either in the Bosch Diagnostic Tool (for dealers) or on the Kiox or Nyon 2 display.

Please note: If the displayed serial number does not match the serial number on your sticker, compare digits 7 to 12 of the serial number.
If these numbers do not match, the serial number must be reset at our facility. In this case, please send us the shifting unit for inspection.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best Regards

Am I reading this thread correctly? To perform a software update, you first had to purchase an Android device. Next, somehow, presumably through no fault of your own, your E14 shifter unit was programmed with the incorrect serial number, i.e. the programmed serial number does not match the number on the external case sticker. So, your next steps are to remove the shifter, send to Germany, wait with no use of bike, then reinstall shifter? Note that shifter installation is not hard, but not quick, either. and post re-installation, you need to recalibrate, so presumably Rohloff will update prior to returning shifter? And who pays for the shipping?

Have they removed the annoying mandatory salutation/title form entries? It appears you are now just 'Customer,' lol.

Is your Rohloff service center in the UK or Germany? Imagine all of this if you are outside of Europe. I watched a Eurobike Rohloff presentation about the future auto-shifting product. I think, 'cool,' but then read threads like this and run away. It's been almost 3 months, and the shifter hasn't left the bike yet. Will your dealer put a loaner on the bike for you?
