As a newbie here, I noticed an earlier posting from a now absent
member saying "be aware they [tricycles] are extremely dangerous
in sharp turns and even worse in off camber sharp curves".
This can be true for a rider new to tricycling—particularly coming
from a 2-wheeler—but it's not
necessarily the case. I'm guessing
the claimant has seldom if ever ridden a tricycle more than just
around the shortest neighbourhood block. Or he/she doesn't
understand anything about shifting CoG, centripetal or centrifugal
forces, momentum, velocity, or steering dynamics etc.
I regularly ride a trike—after riding 2-wheelers for more than 60 years,
and I understand that it
can take a reasonable learning curve to master
the 3-wheeler. But after that curve plateaus, then the necessary riding
corrections happen intuitively—just like they did for us 5-year-old kids
back in the day on our first 2-wheeler.
And, just like driving one's car and constantly shifting the steering wheel
in order to compensate for the roads cross-fall or camber, so you do with
your trike's handlebars. Too easy.
