Greetings! EBike for legally blind roommate?

Hello All!

This is a really cool site. I'm interested in building an electric assist bicycle for my roommate. He's legally blind, but can still see quite well. While he can't get a driver's license, an ebike should be really helpful for him to get to work. He doesn't actually have a job at the moment as not having his own means of transportation is limiting his job search range.

Does anyone have advice for me? I've never built or used an ebike. I'd like to stay as cheap as possible, so it looks like I'll be building one from a kit. My roommate is about 5'4" and 120lbs.

Look up Luna Cycles and Radrover. Those are two reputable companies that might have something in a budget friendly price.

Be careful of your source. Many of the cheapest systems may not be as good as you want.

Remember, if your roommate's job depends on the bike, reliability is paramount.

Juiced riders are also good and budget friendly.
