hi guys
I need your help
I live in New Zealand which i guess as we have a tiny population therefore a small market so almost any bike that is not mainstream has to be imported.

I would really appreciate your help I have parkinson"s disease i have been a cyclist most of my life 56 years old now but the way things are going for me i am in need of an of an E-bike.
I ride my gravel bike a trek checkpoint about for %80 of my rides i really love the bike and gravel riding keeps me away from cars i am not as comfortable around traffic as i used to be.

what bikes would you recommend ? it really has to be big brands i just can't buy smaller brands down here in NZ

I am wondering if any of you know if i could fit 650B wheels in a Trek Domane as Cannondale and Specialized do the roads i ride are very rough i ride 45mm tires now and that feels rough enough.

just to let you know this is a big investment bikes are pricy down here for example $11,500 for a Specialized creo evo

thank you in advance

Sorry to hear of your health condition but happy to know you still want to continue cycling off the beaten track.

Have you considered a wider track mountain bike, with a more upright riding position? I will always be an advocate for a quality fat tired ebike as my ebike is a Haibike Full FatSix, dual suspension, 4 inch wide tires on 80mm rims and outfitted with front and rear racks to accept the collection of Ortlieb bags I have for it. Fat tires alone, at the right set pressure, have a way of minimizing road shock. Add a front suspension fork or better yet, a front and rear suspension, and you have the most possible comfortable ride you could hope for.

Based on personal experience with the Yamaha e-drive (11,800 miles and counting and not one drive issue), I know you would not go wrong with a Yamaha or Bosch edrive. Always best to research the Ebike Brand forums on this site to build up an opinion based on owner experience.

Fatbikes aside, I'm liking that Haibike FullNine, a fully suspended, Yamaha drive, 29 inch tired e-mtb. Unfortunately, it does not appear available on the ebike dealers listed for your country.

Not sure what the cost is in NZ but Trek makes some fine ebikes that would fit the bill. This one is intriguing to me...
or...
FWIW, if you are in heavy gravel, an EMTB bike like the Powerfly 9 with full suspension should be easier on your body as your Parkinson’s progresses, yet still has fenders/rack/head & tail lights for normal road use. Best of luck in your journey!
