got a stay indoors alert this morning a hazards smoke alert.

about 3 or 4 blocks from us a old fiberglass plant abandoned was set on fire for the second time. this time it was big it started at 3 in the morning got the alert at 7:30 it was a very bad smell for sure.
we ride by it every day. there is now an apartment complex right across from it. it was bad enough here the stink there it had to be really bad. wonder if they evacuated them? most like a homes fire or meth lab

it was weird the smell was mostly gone and the fire almost out when a cop car drove through telling everyone to shelter in place. it was pretty much over. the Walmart that was across the corner was open and people coming and going.
here is a map with the wind and the location of the building and us. but they did not shut down Walmart when we got the stay in place warning.

looks like only one of the buildings burned. I doubt there was any power to this as it's been abandoned for several years. so it had to be someone.

Did they ever disclose what the actual hazardous material was? Hopefully nothing that lingers.

fiberglass stuff Asbestos dust. though we have not found any around. we got the warning right before the smell came so we got our big window fan turned off. but the stink was coming in around the window AC unit. the weird thing was the cops came around at 11 after the stink was gone and the fire mostly our saying shelter in place But the Walmart was open and they were so much closer.

Wow that stuff is bad news, im surprised Walmart was open, jeez the all mighty dollar i guess.

yep. I dont know if htey were open at 7:30 when we got the alert. but everyone that had a phone in that area would have gotten the alert.

Thats just sad, no concern for customers or their own employees!
Sadly i shop there all the time but i would like to think my local store would have closed
even though..
