This is one of the better articles I have seen on the topic of your first time buying an ebike.

If you are new to ebikes, it's a daunting challenge with so many choices, lots of hype, and many misconceptions. OEMS can take advantage of the consumer, especially ones just getting back into biking after a multi-decade hiatus.

Plus sticker shock on top of how expensive just regular bikes are now to get decent quality versus when you last bought one, doesn't help.

Micah, who is rather astute on electric technology, and the commercial aspects of the ebike industry just does a really nice job here breaking it all down, which is very very hard to do well for people so new to ebikes, and so many nuances and choices. But it's digestible for most in one sitting. (And thankfully not a 'book' bc frankly who has time anymore to read a book ? ... and if you do, you want it to be for pleasure or maybe graduate courses. Buying an ebike should NEVER be that hard ! ) and for those who don't like to read, he provides a video too !

The biggest myth he dispels, is that you have to pay $3000 to $5000 to get a good quality ebike. But then on the low end he spells out what you arent getting in the sub $900 category, which is notorious for sucking people in who are on a tight budget into something that has a very high probability of not providing a decent experience.

Anyway, Bless his soul for exposing some hard truths, that you won't likely see here, and some particular ebike OEMS simply won't like. I applaud the courage, as too many people are afraid to be viewed as politically incorrect, or saying something even the slightest bit critical but very accurate.
