From everything I have read by you, I think you strike a good balance between being helpful and informative and mentioning what you do professionally. That you mention your business once in a while is fine with me as it helps others understand where you are coming from, your level of experience, knowledge and expertise. Nothing wrong with establishing credibility. And in an environment like this with newbees coming on board regularly, it is not wrong to reestablish those bona fides once in a while.

Perhaps you do some marketing of the custom build idea and its benefits, but that's okay with me. I have never suspected any selling effort in your posts. Some folks just can't help criticizing others routinely. By the way Lewis Moran does not show up as a member here...perhaps under an alias.

Not sure if it works here but in a couple of tree service forums I belong to you can click on a persons name and go read their posts back through time. Takes about a minute and a half to see if a person is "Salt Of The Earth" or something else.

(Am interested in possibly converting a regular bike to an ebike to get a light weight mountain bike for my wife. Sometime if you could let me know a way to learn about your kits I would appreciate it.)

One observation I have made is that if I think someone is ludicrous , then they in all probability think the same of me. So hit the old IGNORE button and move on.

...not just an asshat but a lame and rather dim one at that.

It is probably not an actual customer as he didn't cite a personal experience with @tomjasz, just that he read posts from him on Internet forums. It seems unlikely to be a competitor. I can't imagine that there is much bitter competition between ebike service companies yet even in popular markets like NYC and the Bay Area and ebike kits are a very niche part of the ebike market. My money is on some thin skinned person that got rubbed the wrong way from one of Tom's posts and went above and beyond to get revenge for a petty perceived insult. The Internet is full of people like that.

I know the feeling, I sell an archery related product on another forum, my competition started talking s*it to the moderators and I got banned from selling until I could straighten it out with moderators...there are asshats everywhere.
