Fastest I've ever been on an electric bike

After making this video I was disappointed in my front action camera. The gps chip was acting up durning recording. I'm actually going faster than what on screen is showing durning the second slope (before the end of vid) I'm sure I hit 115km/hr (71.4 miles/hour) on that last stretch.

Nothing can top the rush you get when your going this fast. Yes, it's very dangerous and in most places illegal but worth it in my opinion. I live off the thrill.

115!!?? Thats insane! The fastest I have ever got on a bike was around 90km/hr and it was terrifying! Good for you man, don't get a flat!

Yea, it was very intense. It was my first run on this mountain. I didn't know what I was getting into but I committed once I left the top of the hill. I just wish the virb was reading my speed accurately. I'm going to run a few more tests with it and if it continues to report false speeds I'm sending it back for another one.

Yeah mine skipped a few times with some of that info too.... Do you have the cadence sensor? I wonder if that would help keeping the speed readings correct?

First of all, I like Korn and this is a great song! At least until YouTube mutes it for copyright infringement... grr. Secondly, that's awesome! Glad you made it through alright, with the right gear this is similar to riding a motorcycle (as long as the bike doesn't fail). Looks like you had a helmet on, might get some scraped up arms and legs if you fall but skin usually grows back, mostly. Third, promise that if you ever do this again and fall... and your friend who is trailing you happens to run you over trying to stop in time that you'll have him or her post the video so we can remind kids to ride safe "OR ELSE!!" kidding aside, looks like a fun ride on an open and sparsely populated road. Which bike do you have again @DDuB420?

My top wack has been 43mph on the NEO Xtrem.

We just don't have anywhere long enough where I live to be able to go any faster, and in truth that was way out of my comfort zone, and more than fast enough for me. The Xtrem starts to get a bit too twitchy for my liking, and we also have just too many deer that leap out from nowhere.
I've already written off one brand new vehicle when I hit one, and it plays in the back of your mind that the same could happen when riding a bike. I have friend who has hit two whilst riding his motorcycle, and one of the incidents left him unconscious in the middle of nowhere at night time.

Like I said earlier I didn't know what I was getting myself into with this run, it was my first time. Since reviewing the video, Ive purchased motocross fullbody ultralight armour (Chest,Shoulders,Thighs,Knees,) and a full faced Helmet. When I go down that mountain again (on road/off road) Ill be prepared for a dive (roadrash) if it ever happens, which I hope is never.

Very smart! Don't forget your gloves. If you go down, your hands are likely to be the first body part to hit the road. That said. It was fun to watch your video.

I love your setup @DDuB420! The fenders are awesome... I actually just bought the front of the Topeak Defender for my ride and love the look but when I take it off road, one side tends to slip down and then the fender rubs against the treads on my tire. I wast thinking about getting some metal sprinkler tie down things (worm drive adjustable band clamp like this) to stop this from happening... use them like a lip locker on the seat post but on the front fork instead...



Hopefully this would keep it from slipping down and with a bit of rubber it wouldn't scratch the frame. I'm concerned that over tightening the plastic piece will just crack the fender... The fender I got was already cracked on one of the arms but I used some glue to fix it and things have held up alright so far

Hopefully this would keep it from slipping down and with a bit of rubber it wouldn't scratch the frame. I'm concerned that over tightening the plastic piece will just crack the fender... @Court Dude, you need to take that fender back, and get a replacement. I own 2 sets and my friend Batman owns 2. We haven't had this happen to any of our bikes and we ride hard off road.
If you cant return it for a new one, here are links to the OEM parts you might need.
QR Slip Joint Clamp Replacement Kit
Front/Rear Legs Replacement Kit
It would look tacky with that clamp, and I know for a fact that these fenders shouldn't slip and rub if installed properly.
You never know you might just have a bad front fender from manufacturing.

I tried and broke two Topeak defender mudguards in row, and came to the conclusion that they are all right for show, but nothing else. The only front mudguard that I'd use these days is the Mucky Nutz. It does exactly what it should, weighs nothing, and isn't vulnerable to any crash damage. I was put onto them as it was pointed out to me that they are frequently used by top level MTB, XC, and DH riders, which is more than can be said about Topeak.

Your right these won't withstand crash damage there's too many parts and connections that can break. I haven't crashed/bumped anything with these on so I wouldn't know. The reason I prefer these over mucky nuts is because of the extended front tire protection. I have an exposed down tube battery. The Topeak front fender protects my battery from tire spray hitting my frame. Those mucky nuts wouldn't help my situation. I agree with you tho, if your main purpose is strictly hardcore off road these wouldn't be the best fit for your needs.

What I found annoying was that the first one broke the very first ride after probably a 10mph tumble, the second simple broke or rather cracked on a very fast flint and chalk descent. Oddly I went down the very same route today, and clocked just over 30mph, which was bad considering the terrain.

The Topeak works very well as your intended use though, to catch crud from behind. I was very doubtful about the use of the mucky nutz, and clearly it catches nothing from behind, but it is very effective at stopping anything flinging up in your face, which was my main concern.

It also makes a good cheese/mud cutter!

Interesting... Thanks for the great photos Eddie, I was looking for this on Amazon and just wasn't sure if I had found the right thing. Is this it? Looks like a basic piece of plastic that you fold yourself and then velcro on, pretty light weight and simple

It's been a long time coming!!!

Given the terrain, the average speed wasn't bad either.

The Haibike performed well today, sport mode for the outward journey, turbo for the return, over half of battery duration still left, and an external motor temperature of 31.6 ºC

My knees are already regretting the pace though.
