I wouldn't - I had the same issue and bricked my battery trying to fix it myself. When I called Mahle, they said: 1. Try to get the battery down below 80%, error 193 happens with the current firmware when you're at or close to 100% charge and can sometimes resolve once the battery's below full. Hop on and ride. 2. Bring it to a shop, as dealer software has more options than you'll get at home, and allows for better firmware interfacing. He recommended I bring it into an REI bike shop, as REI sells some Cannondales with Mahle power units so they have the appropriate stuff. (Today, Mahle confirmed with REI that my battery was bricked, and told the REI tech that they're really frustrated with the current firmware because this has been happening a LOT: owners get error 193, can't resolve it with a battery discharge, buy the GCU and try to update the firmware [which used to work better on old firmware sets], and in the process of updating, the GCU/USB try to load the new firmware too many times and completely fry the battery. This is exactly what happened to me: after draining the battery on multiple hours-long rides and getting nowhere, I tried to load the appropriately downloaded firmware and immediately after the bike couldn't connect to my phone, wouldn't come out of error mode, and the issue isn't fixable. I'm wading through the warranty claim process now.)
