We all know how a Bafang doesn't fit a regular fat bike. So we designed a fat bike with a 73mm bottom bracket! Here's our campaign. Early birds get amazing deal from an already amazing deal!

Gahhhhh @ that top bar. Sorry but shorter humans (and females) have issues with top bar designs, for obvious reasons.

We had many short people (including women) between 5'2" and 5'8" ride the bike comfortably!

I currently have a Specialized Hybrid bike in a small frame (avatar picture) and even with its semi-sloping top tube it's awkward as heck to mount & dismount. No love here for top tubes.

ETA: 5'8" is not short. Short = 4'10" to 5'3". I'm about 5', 5'1" with shoes on. I have moola but only a bike that really fits well and is solid and dependable will get my moola!

Check out how really sloped our top bar is. My brother's girlfriend is barely 5' and she rode the bike just fine. We had to change the seat tube to a shorter one though. This is why we supply 2 sizes of seat tubes :)

fat biking is awesome

I have been enjoying it on weekends at local beaches and mtb trails. It's a blast and could be the next frontier with fat ebike

After careful examination, we placed an order for dozen of these.
2 year warranty on a mid drive with 48V system is a sweet combo. Should be a fun bike for winter commuting.

I am all for innovation and development of new ebike products but after reading the kickstarter page, I had questions. I posted the question below in the other post about this fat-ebike entitled: "Electric mid motored fat bike under $2k on Kickstarter now! Who's in?". I did not receive a response from the developer of this bike. Since you are investing in this bike for sale in your shop, you may want to address it.

Looks like a nice bike, fun bike. Not a commuter, not so much a tool but a toy. Would be a fun weekender and any bike riding would be good for fitness. The last year I've been running the dogs with a bike in a 4 acre field that I'm not using for anything else. And I've thought about purpose building an ebike on an old Raleigh. And that's what this "fat-ebike" reminds me of; a private, personal build from stock parts. Seems like a good price but is it anything special? Is it special enough to take a chance on? Add the wait time, will it be special 6 months from now?

I believe the owner of Biktrix is on a business trip to Asia.

This is not ground breaking design but it is certainly well thought out. BBS-02 is a true and tested mid-drive platform.
48V, 11.6 Ah battery should enable 30+ miles range. Compare that to any turn key fat tire ebike on the market and you'll see that at $1499, this is a great value.
We will update on the performance once we receive the shipment.

I have no interest but why would you say this is not a commuter?

It wouldn't be a commuter for me, possibly I should have said that. It would be great fun on the weekends. The added weight of 4 inch tires along with the larger contact patch would eat into the battery range on typical commuter hard packed and solid surfaces.

I would like to build or buy a bike like it to run on my fields here in the foothills of PA's mountains. If I do a build I will likely use 2.1" to 2.5" knobby tires to use a standard MTB frame.

Well, this is Kickstarter and that means there are some real problems. Mostly, you are buying a bike that someone is trying to raise money to build. Since they usually are offering a low price, it makes the job of having employees and buying enough parts challenging. I don't know what the batting average is, but there are often delays.

In this case, it is pretty much a known quantity, unlike the Flykly. I guess this is basically a bike that someone who knows ebikes could build. The mid-drive is probably more complicated, but maybe they have a source for a frame that matches the standard Bafang module. They are now offering it with a 750w battery for the same money.

This bike, and hopefully it is for real, proves to me that ebikes are much more expensive than they should be. When I was actually buying a bike, the stuff that ran anything over $2500 didn't really make sense. I don't know if the components on this bike are great. It's got a very large battery, compared to most ebikes.

The fat tires will definitely increase rolling resistance, which means it is less efficient. People really like fat tire bikes, and adding a motor overcomes the resistance. You probably don't want the resistance for long distance commuting. On the other hand, for recreation, it makes a lot of sense. But there's no reason a 'fat' should be a premium bike. They are just tires.

Gee, I hope it's a huge success and that we start seeing even more basic bikes for $1200, bikes that would hold up in daily use. There's no reason this bike can't work, but it's clear there's not much room in the price for a lot of customer service, or a lot of full retail dealers.
