Have you tried Google Trends ( http://www.google.com/trends/explore ) to compare your country or city to a larger reference point? Germany dominates world interest. German-speaking people use the term "E-Bike", not "electric bike".
The black line is the Google "cycling" category. "E-Bike" Goggle searches are represented by the red colored line. The blue-colored line is "electric bicycle".
