Tariff's are still proposed on both e-bikes and motors for e-bikes coming from China. Majority of US e-bikes are built in China.

If you are someone who buys on-line, and had planned to not pay sales tax in your purchase decision of an e-bike, you gotta figure states are going to close this loop hole pretty darn quick. (PDQ). (they all NEED the tax revenue)

If you've been waiting for e-bike prices to come down, or 'better technology', or deferring the decision at all, you might want to change course on that, and just jump in and buy the e-bike NOW !

P.S. I understand that some e-bike shipments, and e-bike motors, are already being impacted by delays already starting, where custom's officials are 'prepping' and perhaps practicing inspections, in anticipation of the Jul 6th take effect date.

Not just with ebikes, consumer goods all across the board will very soon be unaffordable for a LOT of people. It is also going to be quite challenging for a LOT of businesses who rely on low-cost offshore product manufacturing. Consumption fuels capitalism and the price increases are going to apply the brakes. It appears that the perfect storm is building for economic catastrophe. The upside of the change, as we gradually climb out of the pit, might be the motivation of entrepreneurial efforts that have previously not been able to compete with the cheap Chinese Luan [as of today 1¥ = $0.15], and sweatshop labor. Interesting times.
