I gave this up after running out of juice far from home. Now I am charging battery after each trip. I am hearing that conditioning the battery on a regular basis by running it down to almost zero and re charging is a bit of a myth? Does it make a difference to battery life?

I agree. My LBS said it was okay to charge after every use.

Yeah the stuff you are supposed to do for nimh, ni-cd, lead acid and lithium-ion are I think all different.

I heard about that, as mentioned above ebike tech says it's Okay to top off after each ride. My bikes came with manuals and they emphasize charge it in a well ventilated area and at ideal temperatures.

Yes, but don’t charge immediately after a ride (when the battery is still warm from use), and at least wait until back to room temperature.
