Derestricting a hardwired speed limiter

I would add that for me, it seems like that "need for speed" soon became much less important once I saw just what it's capable of and got used to it. Then the realization of what that kind of play is doing to the battery range set in. And speaking for myself and my priorities, the game of seeing just how efficiently the bike can be ridden started up. That's a game I've been playing for 4 years now, and never seems to get old.

That said, I'm a major proponent of the KT controller conversions, which work well no matter what end of the spectrum (fast or slow) you enjoy most. Kinda like the nicest computer around feels like junk unless you have a good keyboard (control interface)....

Noteworthy - Both of the bikes I ride most frequently are powered by motors rated at well over 1000 watts, and neither has seen anything over about 15mph (unless going down hill) on any kind of regular basis. The reason for the big motors is I like the arm stretching power for crossing streets and climbing hills.... That's me though. -Al

Never mind that question. I've had the pleasure of speaking with Vincent at Electro Bike World, and it looks like I've found a solution. I'll circle back after installing the thing with a progress report. Thanks to all who have helped me with this project!

Here's a link to the outfit I've used several times, in addition to those on Amazon. If you go this way, don't forget to add a display, and make sure the motor plug matches yours! Otherwise it's useless (unless you already have a KT display. This outfit also lets you choose very inexpensive brake controls, throttles, PAS sensors that will plug and play with the controller - avoiding the time/frustration of matching any wiring.

If you have a certain brands of motor (Bosch, Yahama, Giant, Bafang) there is an option for derestricting that I have seen called the SpeedBox.

It seems it plugs into existing wires and overrides the software limitations and lets you get some “boost” into your ride.

Seems pretty cool. Wish they had it for my platform on the Lectric.

It seems it plugs into existing wires and overrides the software limitations and lets you get some “boost” into your ride.

Seems pretty cool. Wish they had it for my platform on the Lectric.

Speedbox actually "fools" the speed sensor therefore you are not limited by 25 kph.

Sorry about the relative ignorance here. I bought a DJ mountain bike, 48V "750w" rear hub Bafang motor. Great ride, nicely made bike, very reliable. That said, the thing is limited to 20MPH.
Is the controller the limiter on speed? If so, does anyone have a suggestion on a replacement controller where I can set my own parameters?
