Decided to run my ebikes on solar

@usclassic I think it would be prudent to only buy equipment that was made in America (or Canada 🇨🇦 in my case) that is fully UL listed. (Or CSA approved in my case.)

Perhaps purchasing from an RV equipment retailer where they don't sell crap because they don't want to deal with everything being returned or burning down somebody's fancy RV.

I bought the cheapest one because I don't plan on using it after the Anker arrives.

Keep Murphys Law in mind.
If something is going to fail, it's going to fail when you need it most.
(Like when the grid goes down)

Try to stay away from anything with WiFi, Bluetooth or any type of remote connectivity to help protect your equipment.

If the grid goes down, you don't want it to take out your equipment with it.
Cyber attacks are real, so don't give them a back door to your equipment.

Solar flares can take out the electrical grid, and could possibly harm your equipment as well??

Ohh,..
And any nearby lighting strikes need to be considered.

My Wi-Fi box blowed up when a bolt of 🌩 hit the telephone pole next to my house.

It took out the cable TV wires as well.

I bought a new WI-FI box, and a surge protector.

As a kid I had a homemade crystal radio. The tuner/capacitor was made from a cardboard orange juice can. The copper antenna was 60 yards long from my bedroom to the barn. I would listen to radio from mostly Quebec. I had on the earphones when it was hit by lightning. Maybe my dad unconsciously wanted me dead. My hair was on end in a large ball from the charge.

My antenna was a copper wire run across the back yard to the clothesline pole. I used to listen to WKBW ftom Buffalo NY, and WOWO from Fort Wayne IN.

My favorite was WABC in NYC. It played a huge variety of '70's pop. Now stations are focused on one demographic. It included them all.

Dan Ingraham, Chuck Leonard, Radio Free New York.

WNEW had Alison Steele. To a young teenager, her voice was the sexiest thing I had ever heard in my life.

My favorite Rock/Punk/Indie station at the time was WFDU, Fairleigh Dickenson University, Teaneck, NJ. I could pull it in on a good night using a ten foot piece of wire. I built the tuner from a Dynakit.

,.. I had on the earphones when it was hit by lightning.

Apparently a solar flare hit North America back in the days of telegraph wires along the railroads.
A bunch of telegraph operators were killed.

If that happened today, we'd probably all die. 🤔

All our cell phones would blow up. 😂

I still listen to WFMU, Hudson Valley and N. NJ. Online. I am helping a guy, Bob, rig his trike to make it across the continent on his trike with a solar charger trailer and two batteries.

Ordered this one now
the cheapest one would burn out with the panels I have.

I try to use everything electronic at half the rated power to help extend its service life.

He might want to check the local and state laws.
The state may be the legal ower of any SunShine that lands within it's borders?

I know it's against the law in California to capture rainwater in a rain barrel on your own property.
The state owns the rain.
