Considering First E-Bike Need Advice

I am looking at a 8Fun 750 watt 48volt 20 Ah for $1500 that includes hydraulic disk brakes, mud flaps, and lights. http://www.hallomotor.com

I like the mid drive idea at a lower price compared to the high end $5k bikes that are out of my budget.

Am I making a big mistake?

I have looked for a review on YouTube but have not found anything.

Hi! Looks like a good deal price wise. I've reviewed the BBS02 motor system here and really enjoyed its performance. Can't comment too much on the frame, definitely lower end build with cheap features (like the fenders). The full suspension sounds nice but given the unique single-tube frame design you might get a lot of flex when riding. Another big concern would be the battery, can you get a replacement someday that will fit the bike? The 8Fun system is open so you could always add some other battery and adapt it to the frame which is nice. Since it's hard to say what kind of quality the pack is, you take a gamble there and you might get fewer cycles than a nicer AllCell pack or something. I hope this helps, you could always buy the BBS02 mid-drive kit and install it on an existing bike and use a higher quality battery... it's sort of just speculation as to how well the bike will work and how long the battery will go at this point.

I would proceed with caution. That price seems too good to be true for an entire bike, w/750W kit, w/20ah battery. I also would never buy a bike I could not ride first and since this is so cheap it's probably garbage components & wheels (I dont see anything on the specs page for shifters, brakes, or hubs). I also don't see anything that references the battery cells. The 750W Bafang LOVES current. I mean it really, really loves sucking on that battery teat. You really need a battery that plays well with a high amp draw. If this battery is cheap garbage, the 750W flavor will voltage lag that thing right into the ground.

The beauty of the Bafang is that you can install it on just about any bike. Go to the bike shop, find a kick ass bike that fits you like a glove that has decent components and then buy & install the Bafang kit on it. You can get a good 29'er for about $700-$800'ish. Then the Bafang kit for $900 off of AliExpress or Alibaba. The extra $$$ is well worth it to know that you have a bike that you actually like to ride.

To the OP I would seriously consider getting a decent second-hand bike and retro-fitting a kit purchased from a reputable dealer such as Paul at http://www.em3ev.com/store/. Heaps of advice on going down this path at Endless Sphere.
