Hello, I bought a Chinese ebike, I would like to change the handlebars and stem to something better quality.

This is what it looks like, the steer tube is probably from a scooter because it has such an indentation and the bridge for holding the steering wheel is welded from the bottom. This tube is not connected to the shock absorber because it is adjustable and foldable.

Can I buy such a steerer tube somewhere with such an indentation but without this welded bridge? Is it better to just cut under this bridge and buy a regular bridge and install?

The stem looks kind of proprietary. The handlebars are probably a standard diameter at the clamp. Do you have calipers that you can use to measure the clamp diameter? If it is a folding bike, replacing them will probably affect the fold of the bike.

Is this a folding steerer? You probably have to buy the complete steerer. What kind of the steerer tube? They are are either threaded or threadless. The threadless come in two sizes, 1 inch or 1 -1/8 inch.

It might be hard to get one that is better quality than what you already have. I bought two different steerers because one of my original ones had some wobble, The replacements were no better and seemed weaker, so I did not use them. My original had solid welds.

I eventually bought one from a US folding bike dealer, who had a quality stem, but it cost me almost 90 USD. It doesn't flex or wobble like the $20 units.

the tube that goes to the steering wheel is 28.6mm and has the cut that you can see in the last photo

Or maybe cut this round under this weld, mount an ordinary ahead bicycle stem and it will be ok?

You might want to browse the Lectric XP forum as well... in particular this thread.

Edit to add: I don't own a Lectric XP, but it seems that because the bike is very inexpensive a lot of users have taken it on themselves to customize their XPs. I'd seen quite a few handlebar alternatives in that forum, back when I was planning on customizing my own fat folder.

This video was posted on the 4th page of the above thread... he goes through the process pretty clearly. Just make sure you know which diameter you're dealing with at the beginning (probably 25.6mm but measure to be sure). :)

What's wrong with them now?

You want to mutilate and destroy a factory welded piece, then fasten some replacement that can be potentially weaker and dangerous?

If not for this handlebar and stem, the quality is very good, better than some of the company's much more expensive ones
