Can i still pedal with a hub motor?

Hi everyone i'm new into this fascinating electric bicycles and custom bicycles , actually i have build a model from the book bikes for evil genius
It's nice and smooth but very heavy on hills that's why i want to adapt a motor but i want to still be able to pedal, because that's the fun part and the main idea it's to excercise, i've done some research about mid, motors hub motors, and pedelec being hub motors the cheapest. Thats where my question come in: can i adapt a hub motor and still be able to pedal?

Yes you can pedal, and if you install pedal-assist then you will have that "super leg" feeling and the most efficient use of your motor.

But even if you have only a throttle, you still can pedal along, it just won't be the same.

That's a Rad trike my friend, great build! Absolutely one of a kind very cool. Definitely get a pedelec/ pedal assist system which allow you to use you own pedaling to help power the motor, versus just a throttle option. A pedelec system which measures cadence speed and torque (how fast and how hard you are pedaling) is the best. Let us know how it works out. And I like you Great Dane, they are good dogs.

Thank you all for youl help this has been a little confusing to men since theres is no much official information , for now it will be just a hub motor since my resources are a little bit limited thanks i'll keep you informed
ps my first idea was to be towed by my great dane but hes kindnof lazy jejejeje just kidding

You should look into the Bafang BBOS 2. Might suite your needs perfectly.

You absolutely can pedal as long as you have a freewheel. But if you have a heavy bike (mine, for instance, is 57 lbs, and that's before I load it up with stuff) it might feel overly heavy and cumbersome to pedal. I sure would not want to have to pedal my bike without assist for more than 1/2 mile. And definitely not uphill of any grade.
