Can I shift gears rapidly?

I just got a Crosscurrent X and wondering if I can shift gears rapidly like just click the levers to go from say the highest gear down to the lowest gear as I come to a stop sign? Or, should I wait for each gear to engage one at a time before clicking to the next gear?

It's fine, you don't have a mid drive.

I've ridden a mid drive without gear shift sensor and yea, it did make huge noise and was hurting the gear and chain, but with hub drive, you can just shift it fast and it won't cause problems.
Thanks. Do I also have to be pedaling to while I shift?

That would be a yes......

Yes, otherwise your derailleur would be moving but sprockets won't.

If you want to shift while NOT pedaling, you need to find a bike with internal geared hub, like WattWagons.
Thanks. I saw a reviewer on YouTube who just set the gear he wanted before even getting on the bike. I thought that was a bit strange.

Was it on Juiced?

If you do that, all it does is put tension on the cable and derailleur, and it won't actually shift gear.

Yep, the reviewer guy here (and I guess he's the admin. of this forum) does it when showing the shifter levers right here in this video:

I think he was just doing to show how the shifter works.
He didn't actually change the gear, as he was not moving the rear sprocket.
It's not good for the shifter either, but I think he just did it to demonstrate it.
Yeah, I guess he did two gears up and then two down so I guess that doesn't really change the gears when starting to ride.
